“very nice people but I wont be calling them again.”
Both gentlemen, professional, knowledegable and did excellent work. Answered and addressed any and all concerns and questions. You can tell they take pride in their work which is rare to see these days. You need more workers like Chis Fuentes and Dave
Needed to have a fire-stop installed in attic...The technicians also installed a bathroom exhaust system...Ken Kopka has been taking care of our fireplace for the past few years. He & his partner Jason P. are hard workers & know what they're doing!
Ken Kopka was absolutely excellent. He was very knowledgeable and courteous. Gave me a quote and took his time and there was no pressure. Very very pleased. Great job Early Times!
Had Matt from Early Times Home Solutions to clean our fireplace. We have never owned a home with a fireplace before so this was all new for us. He was very pleasant and very honest. Our home inspector told us we had stage 3 creosote but Matt said it was just ash. He could have lied and we never would have known. He was very thorough and spent time answering all of my questions. Very pleased with his expertise and timeliness. Early Times comes highly recommended.
Dishonest?. We let them do a cleaning. They frightened us with warning of critically needed work totaling more than $6000. Then they came over with TV camera to show problems, which of course I couldn't see but I am a lay person. This 2 minute operation cost $150 but would be deducted, they said, from the 6000 if we did the work. On recommendation of our handyman of 20 years, we got a second opinion from a very well established, family owned firm in Skokie. They said that at most we needed $1200 worth of work (now done) and that, by the way, the cleaning done previously by "ET" was not very adequate. I guess they figured we had the money so soaked us good, but thank heavens, only for the cleaning and bogus TV show : $250, not $6000!
over charge and check their Better Business record. I made the mistake of not checking Better Business. I called to get a quote and told them I have the $40 discount, they jackup the price when they bill you ($165 before -$40). btw, there is a travel fee add on top of the bill that they didn't tell you. very nice people but I wont be calling them again.
Too high priced for a job that is barely 10 minutes.
Not sure if its a norm to charge exorbitant prices for chimney cleaning, but he was in my house for less than 5 minutes and charged $130 (after $40 discount) for that. He just vacuumed the fireplace, put brush all the way through the chimney and took it out. Thats it. Not to mention, he came in 3 hours late.
My lesson out of this:
1) Dont call for chimney unless you have been using your fireplace a lot - more than 60-80 fires.
2) Use a mask and take a look inside your chimney once to make sure it does need cleaning.
