Sick and Disappointed

I've been to this place several times and when I recently went there with my fiance it totally changed. They use to have good service, great food and great ambience but when we went there it was completely opposite. We ordered the arroz con gandules (rice and chickpeas) and there "famous" jibarito sandwich. The server was nice but she brought the incorrect order and the cashier was so rude. She continue to talk about her private life infront of customers and used profanity in every sentence which isn't professional and makes customers feel uncomfortable.
I love Puerto-Rican food but too greasy which we then got sick. I hate to say this but I wouldn't recommended this place. There should be a place where you can eat great PR food made with less manteca (lard).
- Pros: Parking
- Cons: Grease, Cashier lady, Service
Jibarrito sandwiches.....uhhhh beyond good.

I have been going to Borinquen since I worked at Youth Service Project in the neighborhood so since 1996.
The food is the closest to a home cooked Puerto Rican mean. Everything that I ever ate there has been more then enough and more than original. Most people go for the Jibarritos (Sandwiche' made with your choice of meats) in between 2 plantain (bread) pieces. With lettuce, tomatoe, garlic. Oh my. You will definately get hooked., I always take friends and they always want more. This is one of the hidden Puerto Rican Gems. It is not a fancy restaurant, you dress casual and just enjoy a good ambience., Please try the acapurrias, (meat filled plantainish appetizer). And of course cafe con leche is the bomb here. You will really love it.
- Pros: Everything just like homemade.
- Cons: ~
Good Puerto Rican food!

I had only had Puerto Rican food once before years ago, until my friend suggested we have dinner here on a Friday night. It was pretty good, quick food for a quiet little place.
