“Friendly restaurant w/ good comfort food and attentive service”
“Very good tentative service too.”
“The chili was tasty but not worth the other issues.”
Friendly restaurant w/ good comfort food and attentive service. During my last visit to the Windy City I patronized PJ Clarke's on two occassions w/ my wife and two small children. Both times the food was above average and so was the service. They were very friendly and accommodating of our children as well. In case you're interested I would recommend the Meatloaf Dinner, Fish & Chips, Mac N Cheese and Chicken Fingers. My family enjoyed all of our entrees and sides. If in the area I would give it a try, especially if your in the mood for some hearty comfort food.
Awesome breakfast and got right in!. We orignally took the advise of our conceirge to go to West Egg but the wait was about 30 minutes. So we walked back towards our hotel and saw PJ Clarke's on the way. It was a solid breakfast. I consider myself to be a connoisseur of eggs benedict and crab cake benedict. They had some of the best I have had. My girlfiend had the breakfast wrap which she really enjoyed. Both of our meals came with fruit and home fries. The home fries weren't very visually appealing but they had really great flavor and texture. Very good tentative service too. Overall, great place for breakfast with no wait.
Bad lunch. I just had a most unsatisfactory lunch experience. My salad was served after my soup and after I asked about when it might be delivered. The lettuce was brown and looked like it had been sitting under the heat lamp the entire time I was waiting for its delivery. The salad dressing had about as much flavor as the water. It took longer to get someone to take away my money than it did to eat the lunch. The chili was tasty but not worth the other issues.
Walk on by. I was informed I could not be served here due to my tank top -- actually kind of a nice black Diesel cottton shirt -- and that I could wear a T SHIRT of all things -- to be served. After a day of walking, and not wanting to walk further, I pulled on the shirt, which was dirty and wrinkly, and it said it all to me: "P.J. Clarke's." They gave me a remote beeper, and told me to move out into the hallway. I whipped off the shirt and walked out of there. What a place, typical of Crap Chicago service. Wear a t shirt, but not a tank top.
Streeterville comfort food spot buzzes with singles, families and moviegoers from the adjacent 21-screen cineplex..
In Short
Connected to the Embassy Suites Lakefront, this lively space boasts a cozy front bar packed with 30-somethings and a more mellow back dining room with high ceilings, burnt-gold walls, rich wood accents and green-checkered tablecloths. The classic pub menu has favorites like tender calamari; buffalo chicken tenders; and dense meat loaf with dark gravy and creamy mashed potatoes. Popular Sunday brunch offers omelettes, skillets, pancakes and more.
Chicago's version of Cheers. If it is anything like the PJ 's at 1204 State than it should be the best mini hamburgers this side of chicago. the staff and management is great too. Always feel welcome when I go there.
