Editorial Review for Jerry's Sandwiches – by J.P. Anderson
In Short
A young crowd of workers lines up at this stripped-down West Loop storefront, which offers a slew of creative sandwiches along with soups, salads, cookies and more. There's a dizzying array of bread, fillings, cheese and condiments; ham and roast turkey and gourmet fixings like tomato focaccia bread, marinated skirt steak and chipotle-mango chutney. Most customers grab and go, but the industrial space--exposed-brick walls, painted cement floor--offers some tables and window stools for dining in.

I'll agree that the sandwiches here are pretty decent, and the ingredients are very fresh. The problem is that the employees making the sandwiches seem to be unable to read a ticket correctly. Each of my last four visits I've had to send my sandwich back to have it made right, and twice it came back wrong again, along with a big helping of nasty attitude from the staff. One complaint to the manager was responded to not with an apology, but instead with "well, we're very busy right now" .Too busy to get it right = too busy for my patronage. This place used to be good but its really going downhill fast. I won't be back anytime soon.
Pros: fresh, unique ingredients
Cons: can't be bothered to get it right - staff has bad attitide

Probably one of the worst sandiwches I ever had to pay for. Stale bread. Roast beef was not fresh and was very salty. It tasted so bad, I threw it away half-way through it. I can't believe these guys are in this business. You almost have to go and see for yourself how bad their sandwiches and service are. There are 4 guys working behind the counter, but somehow we waited over 30 minutes in line with only 5 other customers in front of us. By the time we got our sandwiches, we had already finished 2 bags of chips and half of our drinks. They have not figured out how to run a sandwich shop: take order, take money, and serve sandiwch - it's really not that complicated. Chicago is sorely in need of a good, non-chain, sandwich shop/deli and this place is just pathetic.
Pros: No rodents sited.
Cons: Stale bread. Pre-cut, not-fresh, salty cold cuts. Unnecessarliy long line/wait for a sandwich.
