The worst sushi place by far!. We recently went there with my family and the service was the worst on this planet. Lazy and inaccurate. Prepare to be waiting a really, really long time with lots of obstacles! The food was not good either, if you know what is SUPPOSED to be like. Why go there and waste time and money when there are so many great places around?
HORRIBLE! WORST SUSHI PLACE EVER!. when I first started working in Lisle, I searched for the nearest sushi place because I am a HUGE fan. After a few encounters, I thought "maybe I'm just coming at busy times". After my most recent encounterment, I am making my point by saying they are the worst ever! Most recently, i ordered a togo lunch order 5 minutes before they opened, not realizing the time. I order a tempura lunch box and 2 rolls. The waitres then tells me that it will take more than 35 minutes to prepare the food. i was finally fed up. I inquired why it would take such a long time. In her defense she said that they do not open for another 5 minutes. Nonetheless, why should it take more than 35 minutes to prepare a meal when the resturant has not even opened yet or is just about to open. I find them lazy and completely rude. NEVER AGAIN WILL i GO AND I SUGGEST YOU NOT EITHER.
Best sushi around!. The sushi house has the best sushi that we have found in the area by a longshot...and we've tried everywhere! We have never been disappointed and it continues to be our favorite way to spoil ourselves on occassion! Great service and fantastic atmosphere!!
BEST SUSHI BEST SERVICE!. WE REALLY ENJOY THE SUSHI HOUSE IN WHEATON. WE GET GREAT SERVICE AND THE FOOD IS FANTASTIC. IT IS A REAL TREAT TO GO THERE!
Horrible Customer Service!!!!!!!. I have been here several times and am EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED.. The food is decent, however the service is certainly not worth the food...The service is here is HORRIBLE and I believe was better years ago..First of all it takes at least an hour to get your lunch... They are sooo slow every time I have been there lately. Then I ordered something that I was unsure of the ingredients in and was afraid I was allergic of. They refused to return, even after I explained my allergy and were EXTREMELY Rude!!! I ordered something else which I thought they were just replacing and then they charged me for that as well...I had been a customer several times and I thought that was just the worst customer service I had ever seen..I told them they lost a customer forever!!! They have AWFUL Service and I do NOT Recommend....
Was Once good...but.....
We are long time customers and have known the employees including the owners many years. This was once one of the best sushi houses (restaurants) in the area, both in terms of customer service, pricing and quality of food.
Although the food remains very good, the service has slipped dramatically. The pricing has also increased considerable. And in most cases, priced itself well above the local competition. Couple that with decreasing service and I believe this place is loosing control badly.
A year ago, I would have given it a "highly recommended" however, today I struggle between giving it an "average" to "below average". I decided to give it an average however, it is very near being below average. I honestly don't think the owner, who does watch over the restaurant, has a clue as to what is happening to his place, or he no longer cares!
Totally Authentic ... for those who KNOW. The service is prompt and friendly. The sushi chefs remember you every time you come in and lord over their entire domain - no glass is left unfilled, no plate uncleared. I've never seen anything like it. As for authenticity; I've had sushi in Osaka and Kyoto - it's authentic. In fact, there is a Japanese clientele here (always a good sign) who know they can request sushi prepared in regional ways - and they will. But remember, they are in America and do need to cater to American tastes. Toward that end they are innovative in their offerings and platings. The fish is cut thick and the portions are generous. And if you've never had a seaweed salad, theirs is the best! I also recommend their Negamaki. I think their best sushi creation is the Christmas Roll. Try it and you'll understand.
"American" sushi.
This is sushi for the uniniated, really. The fish is OK (I've had fresher), the rice is poorly done, and the ratio of fish to rice is definitely not typical Japanese (i.e., at Sushi House they are trying to fill you up on rice!).
The service is a plus, and if you have not begun the sushi journey, you might be impressed. However, I would tend to avoid places like this and, nstead, go to Kyoto on Butterfield Rd. in Downers Grove (just west of Yorktown Mall).
Artful and fresh traditional sushi. The sushi chefs are the masters of their domain here. They are constantly watching every table from their sushi counter. In addition to the ordinary varieties of sushi, they have come up with some of their own unique twists - special rolls, hand rolls, sashimi, etc. Even the tempura here is perfect every time. I know this place is not in the city but, it's well worth the trip out to the suburbs. There are more traditional (take your shoes off and sit on the floor) dining areas available, as well as regular tables and the sushi bar. I have never had a problem with seating. I have even taken small children here and they loved it and were treated very well.
Authentic Japanese Food. Sushi House is a great environment -- outstanding food, attentive waitresses, and chefs can cook an authentic meal. Felt like I was in Japan.
