Great food, but. Food is great. You get a lot of food for the money. Service was kind of slow. We went at 1:30pm on Sunday they only had 2 chefs for the entire restaurant.Once the chef arrived at our hibachi he was great. The wait staff was better once the chef arrived. If you are using a Groupon you have to order from the dinner menu, which of course is approximately $10.00 more expensive. I have one Groupon left , I guess we will be going back. I had chicken & portabella mushroom, it was great.…
Horrible! Stay away!. This placed was terrible - if I could give it negative stars, I would! When I came in, I waited for 5 minutes to be seated, even though I could see 4 employees around the corner laughing and talking to each other - they even made eye contact with me, but no one came over to seat me. I finally gave up and seated myself - I should have taken that as a warning to just go home. As soon as I was FINALLY served, I let the waitress know (an older asian woman) that I had a groupon - from then on, I was treated like dirt. First, The waitress refused to take the groupon, telling me it was not good for sushi - hibachi only. When I persisted that the groupon did NOT say it excluded sushi, she called the owner and proceeded to talk about me negatively in Japanese - she assumed that I don't speak the language and didn't know she was calling me " cheap ***** lady". and by *****, I mean racist slang that I won't repeat here on Yelp. Surprise - I know what you said, it's not only Asian people who speak Japanese! She finally took my order, and never came back until it was time to see if I left her a tip. The bartender ended up serving me my food, drinks and cleaning up. And, to boot, the sushi was sliced thinner than paper - for $3-5 per piece, it shouldn't be paper thin or as cheaply made as it was. I strongly recommend staying away from this place; I will not be returning!…
Awful!. I brought a party of 6 (including 2 kids) to this restaurant and could not have been more disappointed. First of all, it took over 20 minutes for our drink order to be taken and another 15-20 minutes to actually get our drinks. The soup and salad came out 10 minutes after that. Before we could finish the salad, the chef came and started cooking. For a hibachi place, we expected a nice show for the kids. Instead, we got an extremely rushed through, burnt meal. The chef quickly cooked our shrimp appetizer, which amounted to 2 very small pieces of shrimp each. He then proceeded to cook our chicken and steak at the same time, both of which were as dry and burnt as meat could possibly be. After that, he cooked our veggies (probably the only decent part of what he cooked), and lastly he cooked our fried rice. Yes, if you caught that right, our fried rice came at the very end of the meal. Fried rice normally comes at the beginning of the meal so you can eat it as part of your meal. The chef cooked the egg first, which was burnt to a crisp by the time he threw the rice on top of it. There was also a minuscule amount of chicken in it. For the life of me, I have no idea how he managed to singe our fried rice during the 3 minutes or so he spent cooking it. Hey, and get this, after all of that, our sushi finally arrived (which, if you counted the minutes in this story, amount to approximately an hour after we first sat down)! Unacceptable!!! Complaining to the management did absolutely nothing. They seemed like, "Okay. Pay the bill. Bye." We were offered a slice of pineapple in compensation for our awful meal. I don't think we even heard a "Sorry.” However, they did manage to say, "See you next time." Yeah right! If you like good food and good service please stay away from Domo 77. Stay home and order a pizza. It would be way more appetizing!…
my favorite restaurant in the WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!. okay, whoever said that Benihana is better than this place probably prefers a Kia Sportage over an S Class Mercedes, because that is how these two restaurants compare... I have traveled the world, been on many continents, eaten dishes from cuisines all around the world. If I had to chose one "last meal" before I die it would be Domo's Filet & Lobster!!! Man, I don't know where to start with my description: The Filet. Better than at any other 'Prime Steakhouse' period. The lobster. They put this garlic butter breading (??) stuff on it- absolutely heavenly. My company used to take us to this place once in a while and I loved it every single time. Now, that we moved out of the Chicagoland area I don't get to go there as often, but I still have in on my speedial just in case... And now it is one of the 'classic Chicago things' we do whenever we get back in town for a couple of days: Go see a Cubs game, eat a decent hotdog (NOT at the game), go downtown, and yes, GO TO DOMO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!…
Domo 77 my favorite Japanese Steak House. My son and I love the Garlic Shrimp and the fried rice is some of the best I've ever had. Always take my family my birthday where the birthday person gets a free dinner! Can't beat this place - even have great sushi as an appetizer!…
