An ideal starting place for families getting into cross-country skiing.. The Scene
You don't have to own your own gear -- skis, boots and poles, in adult and junior sizes, are available to rent. Trained instructors are on hand to teach beginners basic gliding techniques, how to stop, how to get up after a fall and what clothing to wear.

The Trails
The nearly 5k of wide and mostly flat trails are perfect for learning, and the scenic landscape provides a real sense of what the prairie once must have looked like in winter (you're on top of a golf course; use your imagination). For more of a challenge, the trails also connect to Herrick Lake, a wooded area that belongs to the DuPage Forest Preserve District. Trails here wander around marshes and over more hilly terrain.

Vital Stats
Trails: About 5k, mostly groomed, beginner
Terrain: Flat
