Angry Owner Attacks Customer. On Halloween we went to Augustino’s Rock n Roll Deli in West Chicago, IL for lunch. My baby was sleeping in the back seat of my car – with my mother and brother on either side of his carseat, and my husband in the driver seat and I was in the passenger seat. We decided to let my son sleep a little longer since he was exhausted from the Pumpkin Parade. My brother went into the restaurant and asked for a menu so we could make our selections while my son napped. The man behind the counter gave my brother a menu and asked him to promise to return it. We were all passing the menu around and picking out our food when a man began banging on the rear window of my car, with what I can only assume was a huge fist with a ring on it. We were all startled and confused. My son woke up crying by this frightening sound. Then the man came to the back window where my brother was sitting (the window was cracked a few inches). He began yelling into my car for us to give him the “damn” menu back. We were still unclear of what was happening. My husband opened his door and asked the man what the problem was. He screamed back at us that we are not allowed to “steal” his menus and they are for inside use only. My husband tried to explain that we were given the menu by one of the employees inside. He didn’t care and continued screaming at us. Finally, I flung the menu I was holding back at him and tried to calm my son. We began driving away and I told my husband to stop. I went into the restaurant and asked the man who he was. He was too pathetic and cowardly to respond to me. Judging by the response his employees made and the look of panic on their faces, this has happened before. The angry, belligerent man turned out to be the owner!!! He would not speak to me about his behavior and what just transpired a few moments earlier. He clearly cannot articulate without screaming and using inappropriate, foul language. I will NEVER return to this restaurant or his Carol Stream location either. I want everyone to know what kind of man the owner of this restaurant is. He is a man who would violently attack a patron’s car and family at the thought of a menu gone missing. Mind you our car ignition was not even running – so it was abundantly apparent that we were not on a joyride to steal his precious menus. I hope you will keep this story in mind and not visit this restaurant or any of its other locations. This is absolutely no way to treat customers … or any human beings for that matter.

best italian sub on the planet. I love a good sandwich and Augustino's has the best Italian sub on the planet. I can't speak for their italian beef, because every time I go to Augustino's I must have an italian sub (as I must have italian beef at Portillo's) Augustino's has lots of good side salads too.

When I was last living in Chicago, I would drive all the way from Lincoln Park out to Carol Stream just to eat one. Now I've moved far away, but whenever I go back up north to visit, a visit to Augustino's is required!

The best deli in town... Augustino's!. It's no wonder why there is a line to the door of Augustino's Deli during lunch hours every day of the week. With large portions, friendly service, and great-tasting food, one could eat there every day and still rather go there to eat than anywhere else. When you visit, be sure to try one of their signature subs - they're incredible!

Suits All Needs. Augustino's serves the lunch crowd in a very efficient manner, deli-style. Plenty of room to sit and eat or good for take-out as well. I can fax or call in my order and it will be ready when I get there. It makes my lunch hour manageable.
