The real sushi place in the chicago area. I went to many sushi restaurants in the US and frankly, we don't live in San Francisco, but this is as close as it gets. Very traditional. Great sushi and very fresh. And great value too. Always seems to be crowded but with a little waiting we got by without reservation. Great place. Can only recommend.

Daruma. OK, for real!! I have been to every sushi place in Chicago. Love Japanaise but not the price.......you can't eat there on a regular basis if you know what i mean. This place is the best sushi and best prices hands down! The amount of fish and the quality are unmatched!! I have taken all my friends that live in the city and they agree!! The non-smoking area of the resturant is in the back and not the best atmosphese so sit in smoking ( most people are not smoking anyway )

by far the best Japanese food around!. I've been to just about every Japanese restaurant in the Chicagoland area. I've taken all my friends to Daruma and they love it! I'm Japanese and love the generous (huge) cuts of sushi and the traditional food menu. The cooked food is by far the best of any Japanese restaurant around! I recommend reserving a private tea room, lots of fun.

Got hooked quick. I had never had Japanese food before until I worked for a company and we ordered it once a week. I got hooked on their Lunch Box and Kappa rolls & Mexican rolls. When I left the company and started somewhere else, I would go during lunch and get the same thing. After awhile more people wanted to go and I would end up picking up lunch for at least 20 people. They all got hooked. They loved all their sushi and all their items on the menu. I now work for a different company and still go back at least twice a month. I LOVE IT.
