“To be fair, I have to say that the location of the hotel was great.”
Not sure about 4 stars, but OK. This is a great location near Northwestern Uni. About 20-30 minutes into downtown Chicago. The service was good, but the hotel has serious noise issues. The walls are thin, and there are no door seals, so you hear everything in the halls. This is no good when you have drunk people being obnoxious all night. Bring your earplugs. Bathroom is tiny, but clean and functional. Park on the street, unless you need the valet service. You can street park for a few dollars, and its free on Sun. Metered parking is available all around the hotel block.
Perfect Location and Great Service. We just got married and hosted our reception at the Orrington Hotel. We didn't use a wedding planner. The hotel staff including Glen and Tonya were great....and helped us think of things we had forgotten, they followed up to confirm rooms and did many check-ins during the months leading up to the day via phone and e-mail. Overall, the food, service, rooms, and staff were top notch and the only thing we had to worry about was having fun. We also found the location very convenient for out of towners and it was great that the hotel was just two blocks from the ceremony!
Sophisticated business and leisure hotel that blends contemporary style and historic elegance in downtown Evanston..
In Short
Classic-modern decor benchmarks this luxury hotel, which is located 30 minutes from downtown Chicago. In-room features include two-line speakerphones and complimentary Internet access. Additional benefits include a full fitness center and lobby lounge with a full bar and entertainment. The hotel also is home to the Globe Cafe and Bar, as well as the Indigo Lounge.
Disappointing. Really not up to the Omni's reputation. Rooms are small and showing their age. Carpets are threadbare, closets tiny, soundproofing not even considered. Front desk staff are surly and make it feel like you're bothering them even by checking in. We hoped for much more from this property. Breakfast at the Coaches' Cafe was excellent, and about the only thing going for this property.
