Regulars are greeted by name at this Evanston favorite; walls sport a sizable collage of photos--if you grew up nearby, you're probably in one. Sandwiches are grilled in front of you on French loaves. The popular Loretta is made with ham or bacon, mozzarella, tomatoes, onions and green peppers. The hangover-curing Disaster is made with ground beef instead of ham. Other popular options include grilled cheese or one of the "world famous" omelets.

Sarkis seems like a really cool place to hang out with your high school crew but the food seems terrible and greasy and it smells really bad inside! Its a cool looking cafe and hang out spot though!

Sarkis is a dive, but the food is absolutely delicious. Cheap, greasy comfort food, like omelettes and cheesy hashbrowns, and their speciality, the loretta. This is a sandwich on french bread, layered with cheese, meat (turkey, sausage, bacon, ham), mayo, onion, green pepper, tomato, and special seasoning - absolutely to die for, although it will definitely make you feel like you've gained 20 lbs after eating just one. The restaurant is usually pretty crowded, and you may end up fighting local high school students over one of the few tables or a spot at the counter. However, the service is quick and friendly, and it is definitely worth the wait.
