What People Are Saying About The Stained Glass

The Scene – It's pretty clear these folks are serious about their wine: A line of cruvinets run the length of the bar for dispensing wines by the glass, and expansive wine racks run along the wall. The room buzzes (but not too loudly) with groups and dates; smart, efficient servers keeps everybody happy. – – The Food – Chef Victor Hernandez turns out sophisticated global cuisine. Seared tuna starter, fragrant with subtle Moroccan spices, is perfectly complemented by green mango salad, while vanilla scented butter adds sweetness to pan roasted scallops with chanterelle…
Slow service, undercooked meat, rude chef

The service was very slow, the lamb was not cooked properly, the fish was not fresh. The wine was good but was not available when asked for another bottle. What a dissapointment!!!
Avoid it, bad service and food

Stained Glass Cafe in Evanston, IL used to be a nice place with good food and reasonable service, and even though it was overpriced we liked this place and from time to time got together with our friends there.
Today we had a negative experience. Food was not cooked as it was asked, fish (halibut) was so smelly that it was not eatable. When this fish was returned to the kitchen the manager did not show up until 30 min late.
He said that he is an owner and a chef. He insisted that the fish was good, never offered to substitute the meal. Finally, one person from our company was left without a dinner. The whole incident left a bad taste.
Evidently, even good restaurants can change for worse. Now I would recommend no one to have dinner in Stained Glass Cafe.

- Pros: Good location

The food was terrific and the service was excellent. A perfect, romantic ambience rounded out a very satsifying dining experience. We can't wait to go back.
