The Museum – Founded in 1977, the Mitchell Museum focuses exclusively on the history, culture and arts of Native Americans. More than 10,000 objects date from the Paleo-Indian period through the present day. Interactive tables in each gallery allow visitors to handle real examples of pottery, baskets, beadwork, clothing and stone tools, as well as raw materials to make them like snakeskin, caribou fur, birch bark, turquoise and buffalo.
