In Short
Founded in Oregon circa 1953, this simply-furnished spot owes its success to its creative menu and fresh ingredients. Batters are made on the premises; a special "sourdough starter" keeps treats from tasting overly sweet. Patrons choose from eggs, waffles, crepes and oven-baked omelets, as well as signature plates like blueberry pancakes (served with or without compote), giant cinnamon-glazed apple pancakes, thin and chewy "49-ers" and the air-filled, lemon-and-sugar-topped "Dutch Baby."

terrible food.. was a complete waste of money, Sevice was non-existent..took 10 minutes for waitress to bring syrup after pancakes arrived and 2 requests. Don't know how they stay in business...tables all around us were complaining about service.

I have *tried* eating here two times and both times were disgusting. No one at our 8 person table was happy with the food, service, value or ambience. Save your money!

I live in Elmwood Park and go to this famous breakfast stop on the weekends. The only reason I continue to visit this place is because the food is good. The service is the worst part about the place. They are rude, slow, and as we all make mistakes, it is hard to forgive them when every waiter/waitress I have had has made about twenty every time. I also do not like that the menu and substitutions are so limited. Want bacon and sausage links? well, don't think twice. On a plate, you get one or the other...you cannot have one of each. The hot chocolate with whipped cream is to die for, and so are the skillets!!!
