A casual stay among friendly Midwestern natives..
The Scene
This hotel originally opened in the 1920s, and offers a glimpse into Oak Park's rich history. The town is the childhood home of Ernest Hemingway, and other famous locals have included "Tarzan" author Edgar Rice Burroughs and McDonalds founder Ray Kroc. Resident Frank Lloyd Wright has contributed the design of 25 buildings to the area. Whether you're stopping in for just a night or two, or are staying for an extended business trip, this hospitable venue will meet your needs.
The Details
The property consists of a larger hotel and a smaller attached motor inn. The owner frequents estate sales and auctions and individually decorates all of the rooms and suites with her purchases. Rooms at the inn are clean and include private baths. At the hotel, in-room kitchenettes accommodate long-term guests. Two on-site restaurants offer a choice of casual dining or upscale fare with live music.
