In Short – The first Togo's opened in 1968 near California's San Jose State University, serving simple, sizeable sandwiches. Today, the same freshly prepared subs are ordered at the counter where diners choose their bread and toppings. Cold options include the signature avocado and turkey with all-white breast meat, and the Italian--salami, capicolla, mortadella, provolone and cotto. Popular hot subs include the pastrami, piled high with mustard. Veggie sandwiches, soups and salads round out the menu.
Togos rocks

I was so pleased to see Togo's finally coming to Chicago. I'm originally from Northern California, and I was having withdrawal after moving to the midwest. They have the best pastrami sandwich I have ever had. I do have to admit that the Togos sandwiches I've had here in Chicago are slightly different. I think it's the bread that is not quite the same, but they are still very good. Also, when I went to the Wabash location, they only offered the small size. It really is just about right, but it's always nice to have a little left over. I highly recommend the hot pastrami and the the turkey avocado.
- Pros: fresh ingredients, casual, variety
- Cons: only smalls
