WORST SHOP EVER!!!.
I bought a groupon for this place thinking it was a good deal and location worked well enough for my gold coast base. I tried to have my b/f take the car in a couple of times during the week while I was working, and every time he'd come back after they said the car has to be in by 9am, and then it could be picked up after 5pm (kind of absurd). So finally after stopping in there myself in the middle of the day during the week on my day off, and having them tell me they cannot do the oil change as soon as they heard "groupon", I managed to schedule an appointment. I've had plenty of oil changes in the past, so I generally anticipate ~30-40 minutes commitment, at Car X I was told it would be about an hour. So I scheduled an appointment for my lunch hour.
Once I got there, he technician printed out a bill for ~$40. I was a bit surprised I had to pay that much on top of the groupon, so I asked him about it. His response was: "Oh, I forgot it was a groupon, so just substract $19 from this price". WHAT?! Groupon advertised this as a $75 value, so what exactly am I saving here?!
Long story short, they refused to accept the Groupon from my iPhone (even though it explicitly states in Groupon T&C pulling it up on your phone is ok). I spent the next 10 minutes trying to log into my account from their computer so I could print the groupon (I don't remember my password, seeing how it's saved on my laptop). The man asked if I would go home, print out the groupon and come back. I said no. Then he asked if I had a fax at home and someone could print out the groupon, and fax it over. (SERIOUSLY?!) In his effort to "help" me, he said they what they will do is print out a LONG list of every groupon they sold, and then find me in it so they could highlight my name as "services". I said fine, and asked if they could start working on the car in the meantime. The guy disappeared. After another 15 minutes of being ignored I went into the "workshop" area to ask someone when they would start working on my car, seeing how it was 1:30pm, 30 minutes into my appointment, and I was budgeting my lunch HOUR for this, not ALL AFTERNOON. The guy's response was literally "I don't see a problem. What do you want me to do it about? I am trying to help you and resolve your groupon situation. I need to call corporate and get them to send us the list so we can scratch your name off it." I asked him to have someone start working on my car in the meantime, seeing how time was being wasted. He said NO. On top of it, he said that an oil change will take at least 1.5, more likely 2 hours. What in the world can take 2 hours for an oil change?!
Incredibly upset and angry I left, after the guy "encouraged" to ask Groupon for refund if I didn't like what they were "doing for me".
Before leaving, I told him that this wasn't just a Groupon refund, it was a customer lost forever, and a bad review of every site out there along with a complaint to corporate. He didn't mind one bit.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE IF YOU VALUE YOUR TIME, MONEY, AND SANITY!
Look no further!. So if you are one of those people who are putting money into a serviceable old car instead of taking on a new car payment, look no further than Car X for your repair needs. I read a GLOWING review on a google search last year that made me decide to try this place when someone "borrowed" my catalytic convertor. They exceeded the review! I have now had to use the shop about five times in two years and Mark has always remembered me when I called. They have always taken me on the same day I have called and they have never failed to deliver my car back to me on the same day. There prices are fair and I have 100% trust and confidence that I am not being scammed. In fact I had my check engine light come on only a few days after a previous repair and the double checked the work, ran the diagnostics for free and even did an additional repair "gratis" because of my inconvenience. These people run a repair shop with a service level comparable to a 5 star hotel. Thanks Mark. I refer everyone I can to your place. Just don't get too busy to take me in when needed.
Worst Service Ever!!!!. Do not ever go to this place they are con artists and have no idea how to fix cars. My car came back twice as bad as when I brought it in and they are total idiots!!! Trust me never use them 1 star is way to many. They did not do half the things that they said they did.
Excellent Customer Service!. Great Experience. Very Helpful, Told me exactly what was wrong and when it would be ready. Very truthful and honest, which is not common in the car repair industry. Highly Recommend.
Honest, smart, and responsive. Mark's Car-X is great. I visited for an oil change and a second opinion on some repairs (~$1,000) that my Volkswagen dealership suggested. Mark ticked through each repair (strut mounts, new tires, brake pad replacement) and explained why I didn't need to repair them immediately. I was shocked by candor. In general, I'd consider my self a pretty smart buyer, but I feel totally vulnerable when seeking out auto advice. I'd definitely visit Mark again.
Great service.. The owner, Mark Donatello, is the best. Honest, knowledgeable and efficient. I highly recommend this car repair business.
Great city shop.. Everything was explained to me and my car was ready when promised. Sometimes they look to busy because they park cars in front of the service doors, so don't let this discourage you from coming in.
