Ridiculous Return Policy. I bought a pair of boots at the Akira on North Ave., wore them inside at my office for a day, and noticed the zipper had partially detatched from the leather. The boots cost over $100 so I immediately brought them back to the store. After explaining the situation to the mysterious store owner over the phone, the sales girl came back to tell me my 2 day old boots could not be returned or exchanged, and I wasn't given the option of store credit. Had I broken the boots myself, I would understand, but even the sales girl said it was a manufacturing problem and the boots had been poorly made. Akira sold me a broken pair of boots and now I'm stuck with them. Customer service is awful and unreasonable- Buyer beware!

Trendy Short Stop. I love this little store. I've only been to the on Clark, but the customer service was great. They asked me what I was looking for and suggested items that fit my individual style. They do have a harsh return policy, however, it was outlined to me before I left the store and they explained that it was because they have a high turnover for their clothes...once an item is gone...that's it! Plus they're so small..they have to make a profit somehow! If you love individual wearable items...this is the store for you. They have lots of great clothes and even a small variety of brands (including free people!) GO CHECK IT OUT!

TERRIBLE Return Policy!!. For holiday shopping, I decided to purchase from a neighborhood retailer this year. Unfortunately I made the mistake of shopping at Akira. I attempted to return an item and was only offered in store credit as opposed to a full refund. Unlike national chain competitors, they have the following returns policy which is not clearly stated to consumer at time of purchase: 7 day period to return, must have tag attached to item, no sale or promotional items may be returned, in store credit only. This policy is framed in small print to the left of the single check out register and is not discussed @ time of purchase. I don't recommend shopping here.
