Possibly the worst place I have ever been. What can be said about Aurelio's in homewood? Nothing positive, that's for sure.

The sole selling point for this place is that it caters to the high school teen demographic. That isn't savy marketing, its that they work there and go to get a discount. Other than that I can think of no plausible reason a sane person would ever give them their business. The service is abominable, the food has the taste and consistency of a salt lick, and the building is in disrepair.

Case in point, consider the dining experience I had there last night. I grew up in the area and loathed it back then, but with all the other eateries closing down my family wasn't exactly spoiled for choice. So I decided to see if ten years had been long enough for them to get it together.

Waitress "took" our order, and then brought us completely different things - my brother got the wrong soda, my father a different beer, and I got a completely different sandwich. When this was brought up, the waitress did nothing to remedy it. Such a quality establishment, who gives a care what the customer wants, they are getting what is convienent for us to serve!

The food was the usual disgusting fare the place has served up since I was a child - heavy on grease, essentially pressed salt, and unappealing to every other physical sense. We couldn't even finish our meal.

We got an interesting lesson in how gravity works while we were there. The place is so ill kept that the tables lean. We discovered this when my brother's drink coasted down the table atop a film of condensation from the high humidity. Said water film also showed how lax their cleanliness standards are. On top of falling apart, the place is filthy.

Aurelio's has always been and remains one of the single worst restaurants in the suburbs. That it remains open while other places close boggles my mind. I hope it burns to the ground.

Aurelio's (shipped) pizzas are WAY too salty!. I had Aurelio's ship three pizzas to me out of state: 2 mushroom & black olive and 1 pepperoni. I was excited when I received them because there was SO much cheese on them and the toppings were fresh and plentiful.

We first baked one of the mushroom & black olive ones and followed the directions to a T. It looked so good coming out of the oven. We each took one bite and both immediately said "Waaaay too salty!" It wasn't just a little too salty - it was WAAAAY too salty - to the point where we didn't want to finish it, but since we paid $134 for three pizzas we felt we had to eat it. We then cooked the second pizza with the same toppings and had the same results. We shared some with two other people and they had the same reaction as us!

So today I called Aurelio's and told them of the problem. They said they didn't know what caused the saltiness and said they don't add anything extra to pizzas that are shipped. Then she said maybe it was the pepperoni that was salty; however, that's the one pizza we haven't had yet! Now I'm wondering if I should even bother cooking that one!

But the one thing that really shocked me is she said OTHER PEOPLE HAD COMPLAINED ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM! Now if that's the case, don't you think they should figure out what's wrong? Shouldn't she have offered to refund our money...or at least part of it? We order from a few other pizza places all the time (and have those pizzas shipped too) and have never had a problem with them being too salty. And they are much cheaper than Aurelio's! Not happy with the pizza, not happy with Aurelio's customer service.

$134 for 3 salty pizzas? Never again.

What Happened to this Place????. As a native Homewood resident, there was only one place to go for pizza...Aurelios. Unfortunately, this place has lost its way.

Too expensive

Not consistent

Too expensive not to be consistent

Poor Joe Sr. is probably rolling in his grave on how bad his son is running the joint....into the ground.

#1 Best Pizza in The Suburbs!!!!. I remember way back when Aurelio's was located just down the street in a small restaurant with people lined up outside waiting for a table. Their pizza was great then as is now. This pizza has flavor compared to other places and the right balance of ingredients so there is a compromise of flavor. Those who don't like the taste of Aurelio's probably were raised up eating food from a box or can and wouldn't know great taste if it fell on them. I tried a lot of pizzas in my time, from the "City", to the suburbs, and Aurelio's is simply the best!

It's pretty good. Aurelio's Pizza is pretty good..I can't say that it's the best I've ever tasted. One thing I have always loved about their pizza is their cheese. It's definately high quality. I have even had their pizza delivered to Michigan and the pizza was good, but the cheese was exception. Sounds a little weird, but it's the truth

Yummy!!. Aurelio's is the best thin crust pizza I've ever had! I grew up with it, so I'm a bit biased, but my husband grew up just outside NYC. He now says it's HIS favorite! We miss it terribly out in Oregon. Will someone please open a franchise out here?

In no way lives up to all the hype. Ive tried Aurelio's several times because people always talk it up. Each time I am always disappointed. I keep thinking maybe Im getting a bad pie but its the same thing every time. The pizzas are just

average, and to be honest the sauce is way too sweet and the sausage is second rate. It is in no way

the best the Chicago area has to offer. I think its a step up from Pizza Hut, if you want real Chicago pizza Beggar's Pizza is a sleeper spot but makes one of the best pizzas on the south side
