Editorial Review for Lynfred Winery – by J.P. Anderson
The Scene
Half an hour from Chicago, this family-owned winery has been producing world-class wines since 1979. Founder Fred Koehler still manages the place, with some help from his son and daughter. Set in a handsome 1912 house with leaded stained glass windows and rich oak floors, the winery has grown to include a tasting room and gift shop.
The Goods
Lynfred Winery produces 60 wines, including several award-winning varietals of Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, ice wine and more. Bottles range in price from $9 to $100, but you can find a wide selection in the $12-$25 range.
