Great family theatre experience.
Charming small theatre in Wilmington, Il. Prices are great, concessions fresh and reasonable and theatre clean and comfortable. Seats are comfy enough for my 6'2" dh (even with his bad back.) First run movies and special children's and senior matinees. Very friendly staff and owners have a great commitment to the community, from the pre-movie screen shots of award winning local students, to the management's policy of paid "homework" time for local highschoolers working at the theatre.
Tickets can be pre-ordered from 7am to 1pm at Coffe on Main, a cafe located next to the theatre.
Another great deal.. private rental of the upstairs theatre for parties and such. On my daughters 10th birthday we rented the entire theatre, recieved free popcorn and soda, brought in our own cake and snacks and watched Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire on the Sat after release at a very reasonable rate!
Upstairs theatre can be a bit cramped as another poster mentioned, but while it bothers me, my kids and husband have never complained.
Not just a movie, an experience!. The Mar theater is amazing. Located in historic Wilmington, the theater still maintains it's old fashioned charm. Catch a new realease at a very reasonable price with a very intimate atmosphere. No long lines, no huge crowds, and they still pop their own popcorn (it's not brought in in bags leaving you to wonder how they get the air to smell like popcorn if they don't even pop it there?) Newer theaters certainly have bigger, more comfortable seating. But I'd pick this theater over any of those any day. Movies are much more enjoyable on the downstairs screen - upstairs is a bit cramped and your vision may be obstructed by other guests on a crowded day.
