“If you are from the Cincinnati area, I would recommend this place for a quick fix if you are really really craving the real thing.”
"Chicago style" Cincinnati Chili. I am from Cincinnati and I must say Chili Macs is nowhere near Skyline or Goldstar. It is good don't get me wrong, and it has the same basic ingredients, but the taste doesn't match. If you are from the Cincinnati area, I would recommend this place for a quick fix if you are really really craving the real thing. But again, this does not in anyway come close to the great taste of Skyline.
Worse than Hormel canned chili. The chili was thin and flavorless. I have a high threshold for spicy food but I needed to dump almost half a bottle to get any flavor. Still can't believe that this place's specialty was such a disappointment. Usually I'll give a second chance to a place that dissapoints despite good "word of mouth." But I'm not spending $8 on flavorless, ground beef.
Delicious and Cheap. I love this place. I stop here for hotdogs and fries on my way to Cubs games. The hotdogs are cheap and come with whatever you want on them. The fries and jalapeno poppers are delicious, but take a while to make. The only down side is the place does not seem to have air conditioning, and can get super hot in the summer.
"best burgers!!". the burgers are finger lickin' good! their cheesecake is good also.
Outdoor seating & drinks. This fun "hole in the wall" joint is a great place to have a frozen blue margarita and munch on the freshly-made thin-crust pizza. During the warmer months the outdoor seating is some of the nicest in Lakeview. The turkey chili is the best, and you might as well load it up with all 5 ways (chili, noodles, cheese, onion, beans).
Skip the drive to Cincy and get your five-way chili on Chicago's North Side..
The Scene
This diner-esque Lakeview joint has a split-personality--specializing in five-way chili, but also offering margaritas, pizza, burgers and hot dogs. Wander in and take a gander at the giant menu board, then order and grab a seat at the bar, a windowside table or one of the well-worn booths. If you're getting chili, they'll put it together in a snap--otherwise, your meal will be brought to your table.
The Food
Go for the five-way chili and you won't be disappointed. Pick your variety of chili--four are available: Cincinnati (mild and spiced with a touch of cinnamon), Texas (moderately spicy), turkey and vegetarian. Here's the key: one-way is chili only (just meat and sauce), two-way includes spaghetti, three-way adds grated cheddar cheese, four-way adds either beans or chopped raw onions, five-way and you get everything. Try a Frito pie and you get a five-way, but with crunchy Fritos subbing for the spaghetti. Pizza here is paper-thin, but tasty.
Great Cincinnati Style Chili. For people in the Cincinnati area (and parts of Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, etc), you all know about the wonders of the 3-way (chili, spaghetti, and cheese). This place does it just as good if not better than the two popular chains in Ohio (Skyline and Gold Star). If Chili and Spaghetti sounds like a strange combination, give it a shot. It's a great treat at a great price. I recommend getting the jr sizes of the dishes, trust me, their big enough, and a considerably better value. I tried the chili dog here once too. That was good. They also have Texas, vegetarian, and turkey chili. Those are also good.
