this is a great review. i'm not reviewing the restaurant, i'm reviewing my review, and i love it! A lot!!!!!!!!!!!! The steaks are ok
Decent food, HORRIBLE service!. This is my first time rating a restaurant online, but my experience compels me to send this message out into the universe. It was our seven year anniversary and we were spending a romantic weekend in the Windy City. Our concierge recommended Rosebud because of its' past reputation and location with respect to our hotel. We were seated immediately for our reservation but the servers accent was very heavy and he was hard to understand. Every course left something to be desired and the most attractive feature was the wide assortment of baked goods in the bread basket. The $8 tomato and onion salad consisted of 4 slices of tomato and four slices of red onion. The escargot was completely flavorless the snails were of very poor quality. We had the signature 16 oz Bone in Chicago Cut Delmonico Ribeye $45 ala carte and we were informed that their method of cooking steaks was char-broiling but when it arrived every inch of the surface was completely black! We also ordered the whitefish $20 ala carte (which incidentally was the only moderately sustainable fish available, in the middle of Halibut season!!!) and it was a very small and over cooked. $10 for a baked potato the size of two baseballs (not loaded) and $8 for an extremely large portion of wild rice which had a nice flavor but contained raisins, to which I am allergic and were not mentioned on the meny description. Who would have thought to ask if there were raisins in a wild rice dish? The key lime pie was store bought and had an off flavor. All in all, we spent more quality time with our non-english speaking busser than our server. Our server would occasionally walk by the table and knock on it in passing. I will never return to this restaurant because of the low quality of service and outrageous prices for sub-standard food.…
Subpar food with Subpar service. While eating here - the host staff was rude and abrubt when seating us. The resturant was very busy and loud. When my prime rib arrived (Saturday night special), when it arrived it was undercooked and extremely fatty (over 50% of the cut). The staff took it back stating I would get a new piece - upon return the prime rib was cooked and now done overly well. After this I was given a different cut of meat. The staff made little accomodations to the situation initially until the manager became involved. I do'nt feel as though I will return to this resturant - it seems as though once they became busy they have lost touch with their good food and service.…
horrible restaurant. rosebud is a joke as far as italain restaurants are concerned. Pasta in a bowl? my frickin dog could do that. disrespectful staff, and management. way over priced. would recomed to my worst enemy
Great food. Bad Attitude..
Like many places in Chicago - this is a great spot for a steak. But I will never go back there. The staff is friendly enough but the ownership is terrible. Having booked our reservation far ahead of
time - we requested a very specific area of the restaurant. Not only wasn't this honored, but when we were seated, it as at the worst table in the whole place. We are regular customers and live right around the corner from the place. But when we asked why we weren't seated where we had requested - we were told outright that those tables are reserved for "regulars." One of the owners even had the nerve to tell us hs consulted some list the place keeps - and of course we weren't on it and therefore not of the correct cast is be seated where we wanted.
This place acts like they are the only game in town - when in reality there's so many other places with BETTER food and that treat all their patrons like welcomed guests.
Skip this one, folks. The overpriced food isn't worth the bad after taste.…
