Chicago >Rosebud Steakhouse
“Our concierge recommended Rosebud because of its' past reputation and location with respect to our hotel.”
“$10 for a baked potato the size of two baseballs (not loaded) and $8 for an extremely large portion of wild rice which had a nice flavor but contained raisins, to which I am allergic and were not mentioned on the meny description.”
“do'nt feel as though I will return to this resturant - it seems as though once they became busy they have lost touch with their good food and service.”
“The service was outstanding and the food was great.”
“The prawns are huge and delicious!”
A Carnivore's Paradise.
While on an apartment hunting trip prior to moving to Chicago from the east coast, our hotel's concierge reccomended Rosebud over some of the other more famous steakhouses-- and I'm very glad he did.
All three of us in my party had wonderful filets, and the sides of garlic spinach, mashed potatoes w/ caramelized onions and corn were phenomenal.
I've eaten steak all over thhe US, heck, all over the world, and the steak at Rosebud was damn near close to the best I've ever had.
The ambiance of the restaurant as well is much more intimate than other chain or name brand steakhouses where you feel as though you're dining in a gymnasium.
My only negative comment would be that it gets a bit loud in there on a busy night- not that the other places don't.
A Hidden Gem.. No bright lights or signs lead you to this wonderful restaurant but if you stumble upon it, you are in for a great meal. My wife & I had dinner here and the entire experience was top notch. We were seated promptly (even though the restaurant was packed) & the wait staff was knowledgeable and courteous. All of our selections/recommendations were delicious & perfectly prepared. The dinner was expensive but worth every penny.
rose-dud. This review is hard to write since I've been to the Rosebud twice. The first time I thought it was great. The service was outstanding and the food was great. The second time was awful. Since the experience was so good the first time, I thought I would bring my girlfriend there for Valentine's day. The place was packed and although I had a reservation, I was not seated for almost a half hour. The service was lousy. The waitress ignored our table. My soup was served with my salad. The meal itself was okay but overall, the place was bad. I guess you're only as good as your last meal and this one was bad. I will not give them another chance.
