Editorial Review for The Grafton – by Maura York
The Scene
Infiltrating German-heavy Lincoln Square, this Irish hangout marries pub charm and lounge-y touches for young professional patrons. Dark wood, ocher walls and cozy lighting link the comfortable two-room space. Irish pop CDs and live Celtic strumming (often by students from neighboring Old Town School of Folk Music) provide the soundtrack for crowds steadily growing into midnight. Service, though charming, is so slow it may mar the experience.
The Draw
Up front, seven booths flank the bar, which serves nearly a dozen import and domestic drafts, a good bottled selection and standard--though pricey--cocktails. A fireplace, two overstuffed sofas and a coffee table lend a homey feel to a back area that also features tables, chairs and a long banquette for drinks or dinner. The full, above-average menu includes hearty homeland favorites like shepherd's pie and fish-and-chips, plus eclectic appetizers, salads and sandwiches.

The service here always remembers me. I really like this bar, it might be my favorite place to drink and have real conversations with people. Good-looking staff. There arent any goofy clovers over anything, its seems like a more classy irish pub then you usually see in this town. The wiatresses are cool.
Pros: great service
Cons: expensive

The food here is really really good. I have tried the food at almost every Irish restaurant in Chicago and this is some of the best. I was born in Ireland and love the Irish Pub Grub. The best is the full Irish breakfast and the Fish and Chips. The Guinness is pretty creamy also. :-) I recommend you come for the food and save room for the Guinness
Pros: Service, Food, Atmosphere
