So much potential. This place could be great, but prices are high, the service needs improvement and their hours are just odd. Frozen hamburger patties turned me off from the start, hot dogs are okay, but repeating 3 times what I want on it because the guy making it isn't listening is annoying. The fries keep me coming back, but thats about it. You're better off buying a dog from the 7-11 across the street.
Small hot dog spot serves up dogs and Polish to a casual Lakeview crowd..
In Short
Walls are covered with painted wooden signs that look like they've been there forever. Patrons order sandwiches, wait for staff to cook them up, then order fixings. All hot dogs, sausages and burgers are freshly cooked. The "Screamin' to be Eaten" Polish is a spicy sausage sliced across the top and served on Gonella bread. Also available are charbroiled burgers and the classic Chicago-style Red Hot, served with two pickles.
SO GOOD. One of the best hot dog joints in town. Their cheese fries are sooooo good. Definitely worth it if you are in the area. Expect a long wait if you go on the weekends for lunch. It's a popular spot, especially for the locals who stop in before a cubs game
Best fries in the world. When I lived off of Belmont, just blocks from Murphy's that was my only place to go on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. Those fresh-cut fries were to die for.
