Oysy
view & upload“This is far from the case, we went to the Grand location and I believe who ever wrote the reviews that this place is good works is hired by them.”
“If more places offered such beautiful women at the bar and great smiles, then they would sure be competition for this place, but they don't, so that's why OYSY is such a unique + hip place.”
“It is easy to eat a very nice dinner on the cheap and still get some beautifully composed and tasty dishes.”
“The sesame scallops sounds good on the menu but were terrible in quality and taste.”
“Oysy is my favorite restaurant in town, so i made all my friends go for my birthday last week!”
“Great outdoor seating and great service.”
“had two rolls that were both huge and delicious and the soft shell crab tempura which came with a delightful sauce.”
“My server, I think "Jasy" was most delightful and great at helping me pick out new combiniations and quick to advise based on my tastes.”
Birthday dinner. Oysy is my favorite restaurant in town, so i made all my friends go for my birthday last week! They were great and held a huge table for us. We were a bit loud but they were understanding! Rather than cake they brought over a round of tyku shots!! Maybe it was their fault we all got a bit noisy!!
I'm a regular!.
I'm an Oysy regular and would recommend it to everyone! This place has something for everyone, and it's all extremely affordable!
I went last night with my sister and shared a 3 flavor sushi plate as usual! It has this fantastic combination of flavors. My favorite it the chopped yellow tale and plum dressing!
We decided to share the rest of our meal too. We split a dragon roll, grilled octopus with this interesting miso sauce and tuna spring rolls wrapped in this insane soy paper!
neither one of us was willing to budge when it came to cocktails! We both got the restaurants new tyku cucumber cooler with sake. I's refreshing and perfect with sashimi!
Great.
I went to the Oak Brook Terrace restrant. As soon as I walked in 3 people told me the kitchen was having problems and nothing hot could be served. So what, I was there for sushi anyway.
The waitress was great I order the box lunch and was going to get some other things on the side. she told me NO...was i surprised..She said it was a lot of food. She wasn't kidding. I walked out spending only $25.oo. I did get a side dish. This included a drink and tip.
Usually I spend about $50.00 or more.
Was really happy and full
Great Modern Design and Delicious Japanese Food!.
I must say first off, that I'm not a local claiming that this is that best Japanese in town, but being somewhat of a foodie I feel I know a thing or two about good Japanese food...
I was in Chicago for a quick business trip and was craving Japanese food, which so happens to be one of my favorites
The concierge at my hotel suggested I try this place and I must say it satisfied my cravings!
I had the California Sunset and Green Turtle Maki...both were very fresh tasting and yummy! I also had a TY KU martini, which paired perfectly with the sushi I ordered...
The service was attentive and friendly, I would've went back again if I didn’t have to leave the next morning, but next time I'm in town I will definitely go again and try another one of their imaginative maki rolls!
By the way, anyone who loves modern design will love this place, very modern and clean, but still has a relaxed feeling about it
Mean, rude service.
Our hotel (the Chicago Hilton) gave us the name of this nearby sushi restaurant. We called to place an order for pick-up, and were shocked at how rude the girl who took our order was. She would hardly answer our questions about the menu, and made it seem like we were wasting her time. When I went to pick up the order, I found the restaurant closed a full 1/2 hour before the listed time on THEIR website. There were people still inside, but the hostess I interacted there was so rude that I was forced to leave without our order after waiting for her to open the door for five minutes as she chatted on her cell phone.
I tried to leave the owner of this restaurant an email, but there was no contact email on the website. Sadly, I'll never know if the food was good because of the horrible service. Note to owner: train or fire your staff. Or shut yourself down.
Beware of the dragon hostess.
Let me just tell you.... horrible service. The waitress was nowhere to be found. That was after the hostess had pointed us to the table, and we asked if we could be seated outside instead. I swear she ROLLED her eyes and threw the menus on the table. We felt outraged- I should have left right there. But decided to stay and masochistically wait forever for a drink and than food, that was mediocre and tasteless. the servings also are really small, which does not go together with the quality. Had to get up and ask for two sauce plates.
I work in the industry and if I saw that hostesses' behavior, she would be fired on the spot. Location can only get you as far...
Great food. LOVE this place!! Great outdoor seating and great service. The servers are very nice. But the guys behind the sushi bar are the best!!! Very helpful and charismatic. The sushi is to die for. I work on Wacker dr. and my coworkers and I will catch a cab just to eat lunch at OYSY. Their lunch menue is amazing, but come hungry because the lunch specials include a lot!!! And for a great price too!! Amazing seaweed cucumber salad and miso soup too!!
Not a good idea. Oysy was recommended to me as a reasonably priced place with good sushi. This is far from the case, we went to the Grand location and I believe who ever wrote the reviews that this place is good works is hired by them. The prices are reasonable but the food is not good. We had several different options and I cant say I need to try any of them again in life. The fish did not seem fresh, we even tried cooked food in hope that would be better. The sesame scallops sounds good on the menu but were terrible in quality and taste. The firecracker roll is likely your best bet, even that is just OK. If you like and have had good sushi or just good fish for that matter you will not enjoy this place.
Oysy means delicious..........or disgusting?.
I was so excited to try Oysy after reading all of the great reviews. They really must hire people to write those good reviews. My boyfriend and I love sushi and were thrilled to be seated right away on a Sunday night. We were then completely ignored for the rest of the evening aside from once, when our waitress came over to bring me the wrong beer, and twice to bring our food. We waited 40 minutes before getting our first roll- (we ordered the summer) and we were saddened by the small size- a measly five pieces. Our drinks were never refilled and after waiting another 20 minutes for our second roll I asked to speak with a manager and was told that there was no one available. We ordered our check before we received our dynamite roll and though hungry, could barely gulp it down (the tempura tasted like deep fried play dough) before we took the fast plane out of there. All we could do was laugh at what a terrible experience it was.
If you enjoy wasting your money, eating tiny portions of mediocre and bland food, and feeling as if you do not exist- try Oysey- short for NOT delicious.
... don't bypass the miso!. Delicious is right... a-MAZ-ing is dead on... I was looking for an affordable wrap up to my one day in downtown Chicago that was within a reasonable distance from Navy Pier and the blue line... A quick cab ride got me there and the menu kept me there, until my short walk back to the train. Wide variety- many reasonably priced options, wide drink list, for you drinkers, although I went with the Pom. Spritzer. Yum!!!I also got the $32 chef's choice... 18 pcs of incredible sushi... But nothing touched he miso- Just incredible. The best I've had! And the service is the best (get a seat near the window- good people watching opportunities!)
