“I've discovered that, in talking with people who've patronized this local chain, is people either a) really like it or b) really hate it.”
A comfortable, family-friendly setting for Chicago-style hot dogs..
In Short
Dick Portillo opened his first restaurant from a trailer with no running water in 1963 in Villa Park, Ill. Today, each location has a unique theme that reflects the founder's love of history and Chicago. Menu favorites include Chicago-style hot dogs (topped with mustard, relish, onions, tomatoes, pickle and sport peppers), Polish sausages, Italian beef sandwiches, salads, burgers and more. Sides include onion rings, fries, soup and for dessert there's chocolate cake, lemon cake or strawberry shortcake.
I Love Portillo's!. I've discovered that, in talking with people who've patronized this local chain, is people either a) really like it or b) really hate it. Put me in Group A. I can't say enough good things about them. I've been to several and found that they are pretty consistent throughout. I go there for cheese dogs and cheeseburgers. Others I know like their ribs and Italian beef. If you go there for lunch, park, go up to the counter and place your order. The drive-thrus are notoriously long.
