“felt like celebrating over a good meal.”
Be aware of what you're eating!.
After a rough Christmas and driving home at night, my mother and I opted into not making dinner and instead went out to this Denn'ys. It was a huge mistake.
The waitress was fine, and the food came quickly, but what was ordered had a bit of a shocking "extra surprise". Directly in the center of cooked hash browns was a nearly 1 inch in size plastic square tab! It was a tab from a plastic bag that must have held the hash browns (or other food). White, slightly melted, and dated "DEC" on the side it was pulled up and out of the food.
Debating how to go about bringing it up to someone, we waited for a waitress or some kind of host to stop in and check. Quite a while passed without anyone, and the hunger set in causing us to begin eating the other portions of food (after closely checking it out for other objects). The waitress finally showed up and it was announced that a foreign object was found in our food. She was pretty shocked herself and went to get the manager.
Soon after the "manager" showed up to look in on the situation. It was explained that the object was cooked into the food, and her response was that indeed it was the plastic that holds the bags shut. She then went on to say the following, and I quote... "It's a busy night, and it's possible someone in the back wasn't paying attention and it came off the bag. This kind of thing happens from time to time. I'll let them know in the back about it.". She offered another serving of hash browns (who would want it after that. It was declined) then she dashed off with the plastic tab, went to the counter area, and threw it away. From what I could see no effort was being taken to warn anyone as she sat down and proceeded to eat something herself.
Right away the check came. No apology, no compensation, nothing. I wasn't expecting the world, but "I'm sorry" or possibly taking some of the value off the amount. So when I was asked how my meal was when paying at the register, I just shook my head, paid, and left. Later on after thinking about it, I had thought about some words the manager said. "It happens from time to time". It does?? It shouldn't. Before leaving I took note that it wasn't overly crowded as she claimed (no more so than any other Denny's Ive been to on a normal day) but several people eating were children.
I just hope that in the future it won't happen to a hungry child who's in the middle of eating there and doesn't know any better to check their food. But it just might, because as she said. "It happens from time to time".
It's a scary thought.
Never eating there again.
Denny's offers a Value Deal. Went to Denny's on a Tuesday night with wifey and kids. What a deal they have a menu with 16 items on it for $2 $4 $6 $8 and Tuesdays and Saturdays kids 10 and under eat free, so for a little over 10 BUCKS we had a great meal. AND they had a Magician that went from table to table performing Magic Tricks, can you say Las Vegas. THANKS DENNY'S
Known for its breakfasts, this diner chain slings all-American grub and bottomless cups of coffee..
With its kid-friendly vibe, booth seating and late-night hours (most stores are open 24 hours), Denny's draws night owls, seniors and families with kids. The menu sticks to classic American staples: wings, chicken strips, burgers, salads and the like. But breakfast is king, with specialties ranging from skillets, egg scrambles, French toast platters and several variations on the famous Grand Slam: two buttermilk pancakes, two eggs, two bacon strips and two sausage links.
Thanks for your kind words. Hope to see you again at our Denny's in Mokena.
Don't go there!!!. I was eating at Denny's one night. I had just signed with a WGA signatory agent for screenplays. I felt like celebrating over a good meal. It's very hard to get a WGA signatory agent at any age as they are top Hollywood agents, but I was 26 and landing an agent at that age is beyond very hard. Unfortunately, while eating my meal I was arrested for trespassing. Apparently, I ordered one coffee refill to many and was there to long. It was not prosecuted by the state of Illinois and I was released. I say I was not prosecuted because the state of Illinois found no guilt whatsoever in ordering an extra coffee and doing a bit of reading. If you like getting hauled to a police station in a small suburban town and being charged with trespassing for having an extra coffee, go to Denny's in Mokena. It destroyed my life temporarily. I lost my agent. I only regret not suing that waiter/night shift manager.
THIS GUY WAS SLEEPING IN THE BOOTH, WE ASK HIM TO LEAVE SEVERAL TIMES AND HE DIDN'T, MANAGER CALLED THE POLICE.
