Can't believe this place is still open!. The valet informed us we could not self park in the huge empty lot in back -we were directed to the tiny lot in front that only had three designated parking spaces(full of course). Inside the decor is the same one they've had forever-dark, drab, uninspired. The waitress was pleasant, but not exactly prompt. Very slow to refill drinks, bring dessert, the check, make change and the place was half empty. I ordered my filet medium well-the outside was burnt, the inside was raw. The relish trays were mush that came out of a can and a box. So unappetizing. Soup was touted as homemade, hard to believe. My friends chicken was good-the stuffing it came w/was horrible. Will never be going back. Will travel to Oak Brook or the city next time we want a steakhouse.

Over Charged and Ignored. On our first experience at JGG we waited an excessive amount of time to be seated in an almost totally empty restaurant and to top it off, where over charged. Luckily we realized the extra charges- then it took the waitress 45 minutes to figure out how to reverse the payment. No apologizes from the management (who had to get involved) or the waitress who made the error.

Reservations? I don't think so.. I have to say I am certainly surprised by the last two ratings on this page. I have been going to Gibbons for 30 years. Have I had a bad experience there? Yes, once or twice we had to wait over an hour for a table, and yes, we got what I perceived as "attitude" from a waitress once, and that was certainly reflected in her tip!. But for starters, Gibbons does not take reservations for less then 10 person parties, so theses commenters lose crediblility right out of the gate. Secondly, to Cynthia, I have seen plenty of African Americans dine in this restaurant and did not witness any complaints of racism. So I will gladly return to Gibbons for their delicious food and overcrowded seating and enjoy myself once more. For those of you who make mystery reservations, expect free drinks for waiting ten minutes for a waitress, and pull the race card to unfairly accuse a business- STAY HOME. Less waiting for me!

Rude Hostess and Wait Staff. Let me tell you about our experience...

It's a Sunday Night, our reservation for 4 was at 6:00 PM, we enter the restaurant and check in w/ Nancy the Hostess/Manager later we're told! We wait and wait and wait while there are atlesat 9 available tables and they were clearly not busy. Nancy ignores us and doesn't mentioned that it will be a 1/2 an hour before were seated! We go to the bar and get a drink and we ask the Baretender is this busy for them and he staes No this is slow for us! So we are now finally seates without an apology! I didn't mention we were w/ my parents that are in their 80's! Now the waitress approaches and sees we have a drink then doesn't come back for another 15 minutes! it was ridiculous, we would never go back! OVER RATED!!!!

Not Impressed-Horrible Service. My hubby & I went to this place after it was recommended over and over by co-workers for great steak. Well, we never got a chance to taste the food because the service was so bad. We had reservations and got there 10 minutes before time and was told we still had to wait. The greeter (not very friendly) looked past our names on the list twice when my husband & I could clearly see it was there. Finally my husband reached over and pointed to it and sad there we are. She 20 minutes ....disappeared and never came back. We stood there as person after person was called to their tables. Finally, we said forget and went somewhere else to eat. I would really hate to say this was racial, but my husband and I are African American and the only ones still waiting. Yet, we made a reservation and was on time for it. I'm so disappointed in this establishment and would never suggest it to anyone else. Even the valet said "hey you couldn't have eaten that fast". He couldn't believe that we had been standing and waiting that whole time. If you have any real character, you won't go here. If you do, I will take it that you are just as racist as the people who run this place.

chicago strip steak rocks. I can't really comment on anything but the chicago strip steak since its all I ever get when I go here. But I can tell you that its big and to bring an appetite otherwise you'll be eating it a couple days. The twice baked potatoes are one of the best if not the best next to my homemade. The service is pretty good I only had 1 time when it took over an hour to be seated and that was on valentines day. The prices are reasonable considering the portions.

Food was OK.... BUT this evening at 11p.m. when I checked my bank account, I found that Jack Gibbons charged me twice for $97.20. Like is said, the food was OK, but not $200.00 worth. Being late Sunday, nothing I can do at this time. Let's see how quickly they remedy this mess and I'll let you all know. People wonder why I am apprehensive about using my debit card...this is why!!!!

ABSOLUTELY THE WORST!!!!!!!. ABSOLUTELY THE WORST!! WENT THERE FOR OUR 33 YR.ANN. NEVER GOT A GLASS OF WATER, NO BREAD, AFTER ABOUT TEN MINUTES WAITRESS SEEN THAT WE DIDN'T GET OUR RELISH TRAY, SHE TOLD THE YOUNG MAN TO GET A TRAY TO US PRONTO. HE JUST KEPT WAITING ON OTHER PEOPLE AS IF WE WEREN'T THERE, I FINALLY ASKED TO SEE THE MANAGER, SAID HE WAS SORRY,THAT WAS THAT.SO ALL IN ALL WE GAT A STEAK ON A PLATE, THAT WAS IT. EACH HAD 1 DRINK FOR $80.00.NEVER HAD THE COURTSEY TO BUY US A LOUSY DRINK. AT THE END OF OUR MEAL WAITRESS SAYS " I GUESS YOU DON'T WANT DESSERT, YOU PROBABLY JUST WANT TO LEAVE"

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS JOINT AND I MEAN JOINT TO ANYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great service...if you are Senior citizen regular!. My husband and I were given gift certificates for this place, if we hadn't we probably would never had gone back. Our first visit was on our anniversary. Our table was right by the kitchen and bar, our server somehow kept getting lost coming back to us and was only able to see the Senior citizens at the other tables who were regular 'old man flirts'. Worst service and our meal was mediocre at best, for $100+ for the two of us, we expected more. Again we got a gift certificate for here, we had a better waitress and the food was much better this time, but I still think it's over priced and the place needs to be remodeled and cleaned. It's like eating in an backwoods town supper club and it just seems dirty and dingy. You can only survive on past reputations for fo long.

What a steak is all about!!!. This is how a steak is suppost to be. The Chicago Strip steak is awesome!!!! My wife had the Queen Filet topped with blue cheese. The steaks just melt in your mouth!!!

The price is right at this spot. A must eat at place on my list!!!!!!
