This is a Phenomenal School -Doesn't Get any better in Chi. This is a phenomenal school!!! I had two children and they both not only loved it the three years they attended, but after they both graduated they were accepted into the same gifted school --top in the state. My daughters and my husband absolulely loved the program. Check out their video with parent testimonials at their website at www.littlehandspreschool com and you will see why so many parents love the school and why the buzz in Chicago is Little Hands LEarning Center. Accelerated academics, well-balanced and individualized curriuculum, fine arts programs - Dance, music, Math, Science fair, enrichment programs, end of the year production, Family environment and loving and FUN environment....the list goes on and on. This school gets more students into top selected enrollment schools than any other school in Chicago. I love both the directors & assistant director and although they have three locations, the personal attention you receive is amazing!!! I had over 4 friends who refered me and now I refer everyone I know! They always lived up to my expectations. Warm and nuturing staff, advanced curriculum and great events that involve parent participation. Don't send your children anywhere else...
good but could be better. We had our child at LLLC for almost two years. A scheduling conflict forced us to find a new day school. Thus, we were able to compare schools and evaluate which school was worth the price. When our child was two, we knew he was in good hands with the teacher Ms. Angelica and the first aid Ms. Evelia. A later aid in the room was not as dedicated. The room was self-contained but looked dilapidated. When our child was three, he was moved to the larger or main room that is shared with the four year olds. This big room housed two classrooms, thus when the four year olds were getting a music lesson, the three year olds were being distracted as their teacher tried to attempt a reading lesson. Why LLLC has not built a divider so each class could be seperated is beyond me. Moreover, the three year old class teacher often seemed overwhelmed and the young aid had very little personality. Most disturbing, we experienced coldness from other staff at times. When we changed to another school it had longer hours, a self-contained rooms for all ages, and a cleaner building with a large play-yard, we were surprised that is was cheaper. LLLC has a very small yard that is nearly void of any meaningful playground equipment. To LLLC's credit, they do take the children on many field trips that our child seemed to enjoy. But, the learning experience could be improved. We discovered many lessons were not age appropriate and were too advanced.
We love the South Shore Location Too!. My daughter attends the South Shore location and we love it. The teachers are very friendly and supportive. The curriculum makes learning fun. I work in Hyde Park and this is close to the lake and has plenty of parking so it is also very convenient.
What a place!. My family had just returned from 3yrs in Texas and had NO IDEA where to begin looking for child care. Referals had left us feeling a little apprehensive. We saw an ad for Little Hands in Chicago Parent and decided to give it a look-see. Since becoming a parent, I feel I have developed a sort of a sixth sense about people and places that could be good or bad for my little ones. From the moment I set foot into Little Hands I had a feeling of warmth and nuturing, and was genuinely impressed with how caring and dedicated the directors and staff are toward all of the children. Over the last year I have been more and more impressed, and I am extremely happy with the accelerated education my daughter has received. In fact, after an entire day she still never wants to leave!
Nurturing Environment. If you are looking for an academically rich and nurturing environment, Little Hands Learning Center (LHLC) is for you. Being a first time mom, I was very concerned about the type of environment I would be introducing my daughter to and wondering whether or not she would be able to thrive in that environment. The teachers are very nurturing and at times some would be walking around carrying a smaller kid while instructing others. The directors and the teachers were very instrumental in helping my daughter adjust to a new environment and new kids. My daughter has been at LHLC for 3 years and she is very strong academically in both math and reading. She has great social skills and easily interacts with the other kids and teachers. I loved the school so much I enrolled my 2 year in the Fall of 2005.
A Dream Come True!. LHLC provides an educational experience that is second to none. My 3 1/2 year old daughter has been there for almost a year and she can write and spell her first and last name. write the alphabet and numbers up to twenty, count to ten in Spanish, say the days of the week in English and Spanish, tie her shoes--when she wants to :-), recognize shapes, including cones, spheres and pyramids and much more. She loves going to school and sometimes doesn't want to leave. The teachers and directors are caring and professional. The field trips are well planned and provide the children with new experiences. They have gone to plays, the Museum of Science and Industry, an apple orchard and in the summer, the library and park. The parents at Little Hands participate a lot and are committed to making Little Hands successful.
LOVE IT!. During our search for a preschool for our two-year old son last year, we encountered different facilities with similar mediocre programs and not the special something we were hoping for. After several visits to schools in and out of our area we were very excited to have found LHLC with its professional & friendly directors and curriculums with genuine focus to the early education of children as young as two. Ms. Kalena, as well as her assistant teachers, Ms. Luz & Ms. Janine, are always so friendly, informative as to daily activities, improvements and new developments. LHLC truly has excellent teachers. We look forward to my sons' continued development and intend on enrolling him every semester through kindergarten graduation.
Great School.
My daughter's education at Little Hands - Priceless.
The teachers, directors, students and parents make me feel like, I could not have picked a better place for my daughter's pre-school education.
LHLC is an answer to prayer..
As a first time parent, I was leery about sending my two year-old son to preschool. I looked and prayed extensively for a preschool that offered a well-balanced curriculum infused with multiple learning styles, fun, and technology.
After walking through the door of Little Hands Learning Center (LHLC) and meeting the directors and teachers, I felt an atmosphere of acceptance. I immediately knew that my son would be nurtured, safe, and cared about.
For three years, LHLC has far exceeded my expectations. I am confident that my son has received a solid educational and social foundation and he is prepared to be a life-long learner and a good friend.
Wonderful school, high quality program. This is a fantastic school. My friends and I were all looking for preschools in the chicago area--mainly Hyde park and Beverly. I thought I was being to picky at first because every school I visited was either missing too many things off my checklist or just didn't feel right. From the moment I went through the Little Hands door and met with the Director and had a tour, I got that feeling that --this is the school! I called my friends and we signed up together. Till this day, they have lived up to all my expectations. Warm and nuturing staff, advanced curriculum and great events that involve parent participation. I am so happy I read the article done on them in Chicago Parents magazine and found out about the school.
