worth the wait!!

We always used to eat at Country House in Claredon Hills until we moved to Geneva, now we eat at the one out here, but we always thought it was well worth the wait. My husband and I love the burgers especially the Buffalo. But if you are going there on a weekend you will have to wait and yeah it may be longer then you were told. But the food is yummy! Mickey2095
- Pros: Friendly service
- Cons: not enough tables
Don't go if you have a party of more than 4.

Unfortunately, I cannot speak to the food as we were kept waiting for over an hour and decided to leave. We had ten people in our party and we were told that they don't take reservation but we were prepared to wait. What we found unacceptable was the tone and demeanor of the hostess attending to us. After waiting for an hour without any followup from the hostess about our wait or any other reasonable accommodation for such a large party. The hostess responded to our inquiry about a"waiting time" in a demeaning and confrontational manner. When confronted about her rudeness she scarcatically apologized for "not know how long it would take for people to eat". Our question was not about the seated customer but about how much longer we would have to wait.. I guess when the neighorhood crowd fill the hole in the wall there is no need for new customer.
- Pros: Neighboorhood hole in the wall
- Cons: service
OK spot, but no way the best burger
by designdrum at Citysearch
This place is about 5 blocks from my house, and I finally went there for the first time last night, excited about the best burger in Chicago. I have no idea who else is rating here but the burger was nowhere near the "best of" anything, and I am still baffled as to how it made it on the list. The bun got super greasy from the patty which has no flavor whatsoever other than the beef it is made of. Grilled onions were OK, the pickles were repugnant.
I will definitely go back for the cheap beers and free peanuts (and possibly to try the meatloaf), also this seems like a good spot to watch a game (they had hockey on, awesome!) but as a burger connoisseur it left much to be desired. Service was good and friendly, and I love the 'log cabin' like atmosphere.
- Pros: Atmosphere, great beer specials, friendly service, haunted!
- Cons: burgers
