Fantastic Food with new owners!. I ate here back in 2003 or so and truthfully the food was jusk ok... the decor was even less impressive... HOWEVER they changed owners, and from a great review from a trustworthy "foodie" we tried Kyoto again. The food is GREAT! Always very fresh fish. . . Love the special rolls. Pink Lady and Sweetheart rolls are our favorites! Baked Green Mussels are also very tasty. We go there at least once a week for dinner now. The wait staff really takes care of us... from our second visit they remembered us and what we liked! Very personable!!!! I highly recommend this as the best sushi restaurant in the local area of the west suburbs... especially compared the the sushi chains like RA Sushi in the area!!! (As to comment on the price... it is very typical for all sushi in this area and the midwest).

Fantastic Sushi and Great Environment. I just went to Kyoto again recently and it's beautifully remodeled and the service is great(the manager is especially nice!) More special rolls and the food is great. The environment is very romantic. A definite must for sushi lovers and families/couples/singles(a very large sushi bar as well). THEY ALSO HAVE VERY ROMANTIC japanese back rooms that you see on TV! Very cool to eat in there

Sushi? This is the midwest.. I started with a sashmi plate that contained that bleached out processed flesh with crab flavor, aka Krab. Hello! "krab meat" has no place in a sushi bar. If real fresh crab is not available, don't fake it. Nothing remarkable about this place. The food is so-so at a moderate plus price for such basic quality. Several rolls I tried we made will pre-made mush rather than prepared to order with fresh cuts. Reminds me of mass market sushi found in airports and stores. Can't wait to get back home to Seattle for fresh sushi. Give it a 6 or 6.5

Best in the West (suburbs). We first had Kyoto for lunch and we have never been disappointed since. My wife and I try to sample different things each visit but she's hooked on the Spicy Tuna Hand Rolls, which we have yet to find better anywhere else. I recommend sitting at the bar.. The chef is knowledgeable and willing to help with suggestions for first timers.

really good sushi. This restaurant may have changed hands a year or so ago, but it now boasts the best sushi in the western suburbs. The only better sushi I've had in the Chicago region is Sakuma's in Streamwood. I've eaten sushi all over the world, including tiny places in the Tsukidji area of Tokyo, and this is undoubtedly one of the best in this area.

The fish is fresh, and they will tell you if a certain fish is not up to snuff on that day. They are really accomodating about making the sushi (cut, amount of rice, etc.) they way you like it.

I go here as often as possible and recommend it highly, as finding a really GOOD sushi place is hard.

My only complaint is that the sake selection is very limited. That's a small complaint, as it is the fresh and ample fish that I'm after.
