Where's Francesca?
by beafodor
We have enjoyed meals at Mia Francesca in Elmhurst, Dundee and Naperville. Elmhurst location definately benefitted from Zealous previous occupation of that artsy space. Dundee was loud and family friendly. Naperville was small, loud with well dressed young office workers coming home after the train ride. Yet the staff was hustling, and wearing wide welcoming smiles. Watch the busy barman shake his martinis and work the computer screen at the same time--great guy. The food at all locations is SO good. The house Francesca salad is ample for two. The lobster bisque is better, less salty (sorry to say) than Chinn's 34th Street Fishery. Still looking for Francesca and her lovely, friendly warm and delicious hospitality in what ever location she is hiding. We WILL persue "her".
Bellissimo Francesca!

Bravo, finally an authentic Italian restaurant moves nearby! It's wonderfully romantic and serene...even the children behave here! The food is exquisite with the best ingredients and a light touch in the kitchen. Not heavily starchy, sauced, ingredient-laden or over-cooked...the perfect Itailian peasant fare and what everybody need to try. It get's crowded, so reservations are a must...and the cute bar is teeny.
- Pros: Fresh ingredients, Attentive Service, Romantic Atmosphere
- Cons: Busy on Weekends
Downtown Chicago Feel

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary there this year and found it delightfully cozy. We've been there 3 times within the last year. We've been very happy with their house salad and their veal have always been very well cooked and very tasty. The price is a bit on the high side, but no more than what you would find at Rosebud's or a high end Italian restaurant. The second floor is definitely a quiter and more open dining room, while the first floor seems to be louder with the bar crowd. I prefer a quieter dining setting so the 2nd floor is a lot more to my taste. However, the wonderful food makes noise volume more bearable.
- Pros: Delicious Food, Downtown Feel, Knowlegeable Waiters
- Cons: Long Wait, Pricey, Too noisy at times
