Enjoyed Every Minute of It!. I recently stayed at the Allegro with my 14-year old son, as part of a weekend "downtown" he earned for great grades (we live in the southwest suburbs of Chicago). I had never been to the Allegro before and didn't know what to expect.

It was just great! The staff was very friendly to us during our entire stay, the lobby and rooms were decorated so uniquely, and the accommodations were comfy and perfect for us.

I highly recommend this hotel to tourists and business people alike.

Okay, but expected more. We stayed at the Hotel Allegro when going to see Mary Poppins at the connected Cadillac Palace Theater.

Before arriving, I had to call the concierge numerous times to get him to help me find an appropriate restaurant. Eventually booked us a reservation at 312 Chicago, which turned out wonderfully, but he was unaware that the hotel restaurant had a children's menu.

From the moment we stepped out of the car, until we got in to leave, the staff treated my daughter like she was a princess and their job was to cater to her.

I asked for a room on a higher floor and only received an 8th floor room. The outlet in the bathroom didn't work and we had difficulty turning on the shower.

The beds were very comfortable and our stay was short and sweet. I'm not sure I would return to the Hotel Allegro, but I'm not sure I wouldn't either.

Great location, comfortable beds. This was our third stay at a Kimpton, and the hotel chain continues to deliver. Very mod, stylish lobby & hotel room. Great location near the Chicago el.

VERY large room, extremely comfortable bed (we slept until 10 every day!). Our suite had a fold out couch as well as a king bed - not always easy to find a good sleeping arrangement for 3 people. 2 armoirs with TVs. Very comfortable bed & great down pillows. Staff was very courteous. Excellent closet space. Room was quiet & had good views.

Free wine happy hour 5-6 pm every day. The lobby can be quite a happening spot during this time.

Only cons - virtually no counter or shelf space in the bath room. No vent either. Also, desk should have a mirror so that you don't have to put on your makeup in a steamy bathroom. These hotels are obviously designed by men!

Great Hotel. This hotel is super cute and located in the heart of downtown Chicago. The restaurant that is attached serves great food and the bar is trendy. The Cadillac Theater is next door and the Ford theater is a short walk. Overall this boutique hotel is convenient and provides nice rooms at affordable rates.

Good for the money. I've stayed here twice on business, and I would say it's typical of the converted "boutique" hotels you'll find in other big cities. The first time I stayed in a weirdly pink room with a run-down bathroom. The more recent time my room was smaller, but chic and looked brand new. The staff is helpful and efficient, the location (in the theater district) is good, and all in all, this is a good value.

Great Hotel!. Great Hotel to stay while in Chicago. There are many business near by as well such as beauty salon, walgreen, Chipotle, Cafe Cozey, etc..... ! Highly recommend!

WHO BUILT THIS PLACE? HOBBITS?. I definitely wouldn't recommend it for business travel or extended stays. My room was very small, the closet isn't wide enough to hang up a suit without having to cram it in sideways, walls are paper thin, the desk and chair do not provide enough room to work on a laptop. The lighting in the room is awfully dim (I had to turn on every single lamp in the entire room just to read at night) and there was nowhere to put my suitcase without constantly having to step over it. Low water pressure in the showers and bathrooms are in serious need of renovation, especially for a hotel that prides itself on such a hip, modern feel downstairs.
