“The desserts are AWESOME!”

“This is truly a great place to have lunch (or dinner) in the Loop.”
“Great food, drinks, and service!”
“all the portions were extremely generous and the staff was very attentive (for instance, i am an aspiring restaurateur, and the manager came over to have a lengthy discussion about the industry with me) over all, the Atwood Cafe offers not only a good mea”

Cute spot in the loop offers $10 flutes of champagne and a trio of frites each Monday night.
Sophisticated American cafe in the Hotel Burnham stands on its own as a pre-theater destination..
The Scene
Brick-red walls and playful details combine with luxurious, velvety furnishings and cherry-wood floors to create a fun, stylish, cozy atmosphere. Eighteen-foot ceilings allow for grand, square columns, beaded chandeliers and stage-worthy red drapes.
The Food
Warm focaccia starts the meal--but go easy, as appetizers are generous. Try mild, crispy duck quesadillas, given a pleasant kick from chili-spiked salsa. Tender, bite-sized ahi tuna and salmon tartare is layered onto fried wontons with wasabi viniagrette. Creative seasonal entrees include duck breast, capellini, chicken breast and mussels. Grilled ahi tuna is deliciously sweet and salty with capers and garlicky butter. Lunch specialties include Atwood's signature chicken pot pie, sealed with a flaky buttermilk biscuit crust, while breakfast kick starts the day with delicious three-egg omelettes and toasted pecan waffles.
WTF!. I went on a dinner date to Atwood Cafe; it did not live up to all the hype. If you want something on the menu from their website, call ahead to see if they actually serve it; the website isn't updated. The salad was unbelievably bitter. It was uncomfortable dining in couches; we had to lean forward to eat our food. My date ordered a drink and it was served to him in a chipped glass. When he told the waitress about how the glass might be in his drink, she replaced the glass but with the old drink inside. I was charged for a side order that was not served to me. But we couldn't complain about the waitress herself, and the main course I ordered was delicious (the salmon) as well as the carmel apple tart. However, we won't be going back to the Atwood Cafe.
Delicious. I have been to the Atwood Cafe about five times. I've never had a meal that I didn't like. The desserts are AWESOME!!!
