Catch Broadway in Chicago shows (Book of Mormon!) in this 100-plus-year old vintage stunner.
A cherished passport to Broadway for generations of Chicagoans..
The Venue
A Broadway-sized space perfect for the most ambitious productions, the Shubert impresses the way any larger-than-life theater should, with ornate decor, spacious balconies, and a solid marble lobby. Amenities include mid-sized restrooms (with the men's anteroom detailed like a ship's cabin), a drinking fountain on the east side of the lobby foyer, good sight lines from the balconies, and a candy and drink bar in the inner lobby and souvenir stand in the outer one.
The Shows
They alternate Broadway plays ("Tallulah" with Kathleen Turner, "Barrymore" with Christopher Plummer), with musicals ("Grease!," "Chicago," "Damn Yankees" with Jerry Lewis), solo shows (Jackie Mason, Lynn Redgrave), classical and popular musical concerts (Mandy Patinkin), dance recitals ("Tango X 2") and even sporting events.
