Overview
The Adler Planetarium is on the easternmost portion of the scenic Museum Campus, which also includes the Field Museum and the Shedd Aquarium. The planetarium includes dozens of hands-on exhibits that explain the workings of the universe, from faraway galaxies to our own sun and neighboring planets, plus historical walk-through exhibits chronicling the birth of modern astronomy. If you're a sky nut, this is the place for you.
The Experience
The Sky Pavilion provides one of the best views of the city from its walls of windows while the SkyRider Theater uses computer projection technologies originally developed for flight simulators to create a 3-D interactive viewing experience. Controls on the armrests of each seat allow real-time audience participation--viewers actually help determine the outcome of the 25-minute sky show.

This review is specifically for the Sonic Vision program that plays at the Adler. Here's what I loved about the experience: Parking was super easy, the show was totally unique, it didn't take too long. Here's what they can improve: I'd like to know more about the technology behind the laser show, a larger variety of shows to meet the musical tastes of various audiences.

When it comes to Chicago museums, the Planetarium is often forgotten or overlooked. However, it's a great place to spend a day during any season. In the summer, it's also enjoyable to visit the outer grounds, being that it is located on a marvelous part of the lakefront. Inside the exhibits and theatre show will marvel old and young alike. Like most other museums, admission is pricy, but it is definitely worth the visit.

With great exhibits like Stars of the Pharaohs and the Liberty Bell 7, the Planetarium offers a fun look at space and astronomy that everyone can find accessible. As always, the Sky Theater is a fun treat that even your littlest tot will enjoy.
