Sparkling Sunrise. I've gotten to know Ellie over the past several years at her studio events and through purchasing both custom designed and collection pieces. When my beau and I starting thinking wedding bells, I immediately thought of Ellie and we were both excited to work with her! She is patient and thoughtful in designing jewelry to meet individual styles and budgets. My now fiancee presented my lovely Ellie ring with a sunrise proposal and a view of the city from Diversey harbor. The sparkles in the ring and our eyes were, and continue to be, magical. Wonderful jewelry. My mother has got me hooked on Ellie's jewelry. She had two rings made by Ellie, and both were unique and gorgeous (plus, I hear that the price is right).

My mom then referred my now-fiance to Ellie for my engagement ring; it's a beautiful cushion-cut sapphire (unusually light for a sapphire because it's not heated) with diamonds surrounding it. Ellie had worked and guided my fiance through the process who didn't know anything about rings and stones.

In addition to custom designs, Ellie has her own collection which I always drool over when I walk into her store.

Ellie Thompson is a real gem!. Ellie Thompson is a wonderfully talented designer. She has made over a dozen very special pieces for me. I wear one almost every day, and--no matter how long ago she made them--they never fail to make me feel good every time I put them on.

Beautiful well made jewlery. I have known Ellie for many years. I have seen her jewelry creations evolve and her ability to understand what her customers want turn into some kind of Jedi mind trick.

Most recently, I recommended her to a friend in Maryland, and though Ellie is right across form Millennium Park, she custom designed their wedding set through emails and a couple of phone calls. They are thrilled with their rings!

I have several pieces from her collections and pieces she has designed just for me. All of them have a weight and feel to them that only high quality jewelry conveys. Her stone choices are phenomenal. The only thing that tops the jewelry is Ellie herself. She really cares about what you want and that you are very happy with the end result.

Ellie's beautiful Designs. Ellie Thompson designs the most beautiful jewelry. I have a ring she designed and I never fail to get stopped as people always notice my ring. It is an extremely unique design and I really enjoy wearing it. She is delightful to work with and her workmanship is excellent. I don't think anyone will ever regret buying a piece from Ellie's collection. All her jewelry designs are just so beautiful and a treasure to own

Well Worth Having In Your Jewelry Collection. I will just paste here a version of what I wrote to Ellie when my ring arrived in the mail:

"Received the ring this a.m., tore open the package, and what to my wondering eyes... It's gorgeous! Really! More fantastic than I remember the ring being when I tried it on at the Field Museum gift shop. I like the muted tone of mine even more. The 18kt gold flower really takes the ring to a whole other level. And the ring is so wonderfully big. [...] Well, I could rhapsodize all day, but suffice to say that I am very pleased. Thank you so much for the love that you obviously put into this ring. It makes it special!"

I am an inveterate jewelry buff so have developed an eye for what is truly worth having in my collection (within my budget and station in life). Ellie Thompson's pieces are works of art that will stand the test of time and gain value. She is a consummate American artist of her era. I did not hesitate to purchase the triple flower ring from the American Metaphor collection. It is magnificently large and makes a unique statement. It stands alone. Ellie herself is wonderfully accommodating and easy to work with, not what you'd expect from a jeweler with her talent. At her suggestion, I even "upgraded" the ring so that the smallest flower is 18kt gold and adds just that much more je ne sais quoi to the piece. I am thrilled with it.

Fantastic designs, service, and prices. I loved working with Ellie on the wedding rings my wife and I got from her. My wife's been a fan of her work for a while now, so we had confidence that she'd be able to deliver something that woudl knock our socks off. Ellie presented some truly spectacular designs to us for consideration after we set the direction and style we wanted. The execution was flawless.

I couldn't be happier with the jewelry she's made for the two of us, and I'm looking forward to visiting Ellie whenever I need to get my wife an extra special gift.

Truly Gifted Jewelry Designer!. My husband Michael and I arrived at Ellie's office with a chunk of platinum and a sketchbook full of ideas. We were getting engaged (and married) and wanted unique rings for both occasions. A friend had recommended Ellie to us and assured us she'd be wonderful to work with on this project.

We had settled on a compass theme for the rings, but were all over the map with how to make them. Ellie listened patiently, looked at our sketches, immediately understood our overall vision, and proceeded to refine and clarify our designs in a way we all felt really good about! She added elements to our designs that hadn't occurred to us that made the rings even more interesting and unique. She had a beautiful array of diamonds to choose from and took time to explain the different cuts and quality levels. We left feeling so excited to see the designs made real!

It's hard to convey the depth of our satisfaction with the finished results. My engagement ring, which contains the moving parts of a stylized compass, with a diamond spinning in the middle, is absolutely stunning. I have been complimented on it by countless people, from folks at the checkout counter, to friends at dinner -- pretty much every time I wear it anywhere. I have heard people say, over and over again, "That's so unique," "Where did you get that?", and "How beautiful." My husband's band is a lovely design that echoes the compass motif in a simpler way, as he uses his hands a lot and wanted a ring he could wear all the time. My wedding band is a simple platinum band that fits nicely under the engagement ring. Whenever we wear our rings, which are most days, we are reminded of our bond to each other, one that involved creativity and collaboration. Thanks to Ellie, this was a beautiful experience.

Someone who is invested in you!. I like other men on this list did not have a great knowledge of jewelry; in fact I was completely ignorant. I wanted a custom engagement ring that incorporated a family stone and spoke to the character of my fiancee. Ellie knocked it out of the park!! I have received the best complements on the ring, and everyone I know wants to know where I had the ring made. I felt such a sense of personal care and thought about what we were trying to create. Ellie is looking out for you, and wants to build life long relationships, which is a touch one won?t find in any chain jeweler. I found Ellie on the internet and don?t plan to do anymore searching.

Ellie is the best!. I could probably be labeled the typical male when it comes to choosing jewelry...the label...an idiot. Ellie was rec'd from a family member so I went to her 8 years ago to buy my engagement ring for my wife. I have not stopped going to her at least once a year for gifts for my wife and other family members. She really gave me the guided tour in ring selection. I found her to be incredibly forthright and honest in deciding between engagement rings which really made me feel at ease. Her selection of gift ideas, creativity and service is just unbelievable. I will only use Ellie for all of my jewelry design needs
