The Scene
It's dark and wood-paneled, with a long bar and plenty of closely bunched tables and booths. Servers, many of whom have been here for a long while, are very friendly--even when faced with the lunch rush. A nice selection of draft beer is available, along with a full bar.
The Draw
Burgers, sandwiches and salads dot the menu. Don't expect anything revolutionary or low-fat, though--most everything comes with a pile of fries (either regular or Cajun-spiced). The burgers are huge (1/2-pounders) and come with a staggering array of toppings. A top choice is The Mediterranean, topped with feta cheese, olives and grilled onions. The grilled chicken Caesar salad is also a winner, with its juicy chicken strips served atop a large bed of greens. Or go for the chicken Caesar sandwich--a grilled chicken breast, topped with onions and served with Caesar dressing on the side.

I've had a few experiences w/ Monk's and would highly recommend it as a good place to go after work for a few drinks w/ co-workers. Drinks are reasonably priced and the atmosphere is casual and warm. There are a few nitches to hide-away in as well if that's what you're looking for. The food, well, decent in my opinion but worth having, just don't expect extraordinary.

I look this pub! The food is great, the drinks are smooth, the waitresses aren't rude and the peanuts are fresh. Great place to hang out after work. Make sure not to where your best shoes, though. The peanut shells on the floor can be a bit overwhelming!

Stop at this place every now and then for lunch, and although the pub boasts the best burger in Chicago, it is far from it. Food in general is not what would get me in the door - its the setting that is so original about the place. Once you're inside, you dont know if you're in Chicago or Prague. Neat place for a quick bite, nothing for a first date.

Be forewarned: If you ask for medium-rare, you're burger will be quite pink in the middle.
