Best Lemon Chicken in Chicago. Great experience, great service, perfectly layed out, this place had the original chalkboard menu's that all the other places copy. LOVE THIS PLACE !

A Chicago institution. We go back to the days when the whole dining room was that crammed space behind the bar that is now the kitchen. This place is like family. You're always welcome and you leave stuffed. The menu is written on a blackboard. They only accept cash. The food is basic Southern Italian. When I asked once, "How is the eggplant prepared?" the waitress answered, "Wit' red gravy!" (Tomato sauce) Order salad for half the number of people - don't miss the lemon chicken or the shells & broccoli. Look at the celebrity pictures and ask Tony how his daughters are doin'.

Great Italian Food & Friendly service. I loved the italian salad, Pork chop Vesuvio & make sure you get the tiramisu. I would definitly go back & bring friends.

Our favorite for years: authentic, delicious, cmfortable. The eggplant parmesan is to die for, along with the lemon chicken. They have the best fried calamari in town, tender perfection. Pork chops, mussels, suasage with peppers, all fantastic. The prices are reasonable, and the service is like family, you get everything you ask for, plus no charge for a bit of attitude. Inexpensive valet parking. Cash only, but its worth the trip to the atm.

Hands down best Lemon Chicken outside of my Nana's Kitchen.. Tufanos is my favorite Italian Restaurant. My family has been going there since I was a kid. Hands down the best Lemon Chicken outside of my Nana's Kitchen. Comfortable/Casual atmosphere with great service. Inexpensive Valet parking. Great Food & Terrific wine at reasonable prices. Oh and don't forget to order the Calamari - it is super fresh. I believe the reason they have still been a huge success is because they do not elevate their prices or create a stuffy atmosphere. I can't get enough. Manja'

Nothing Special. The pastas all came overcooked with very bland marinara sauce. Stay away from the Chicken Parmesan it was tough and tasteless. The two bright spots were the calamari and antipasto salad, both were fresh. Cheap food and poor quality, in Chicago you can find a much better Italian restaurant.

Not what it seems. I was very dissapointed after reading the reviews of this place. The food was average but the service was poor. When we asked for seperate checks after we forgot to ask initially, the waitress rolled her eyes and flipped her hair. Then we were informed that thet only take cash. When we asked the manager named Joe why there is no sign stating this, his response was "Well, we have been here for 67 years". We told him we were from out of town and he followed that up with another snide remark. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!!! I would not recommend this place to anyone if you want good service!

Disappointed. Hearing so many raves about this traditional Italian eatery, we were'nt ready for watery salad, tasteless pasta dishes, thin wines, and stringy mussels that didn't seem fresh. Maybe it was an off night, but none of us will EVER go back. Lemon chicken and desserts were good, though. Although inexpensive, bad food is never a good value, and we were deprived of a satisfying meal on one of our few nights in the city.

great little stop. I just made it back there after a year, and the meal was not very good this time around. Unless I was in the area, or just nostalgic, I would not go back.
