Editorial Review for World Gym – by Drew Pisarra
The Scene
The company logo is a muscle-bound gorilla deadlifting a heavily loaded barbell, but World Gym's focus goes beyond just weights to include a number of fitness options. Joe Gold's first Southern California muscle mecca--the second being the eponymous Gold's--has spawned hundreds of neighborhood gyms everywhere, from Mentor, Ohio, to Taichung, Taiwan. Design and amenities vary from franchise to franchise to reflect the owner and the community as much as, if not more than, the original location.
The Workout
All World Gym fitness centers are required to be at least 9,500 square feet. That means ample room for free weights, medicine balls, treadmills and sundry machines; classes in Spinning, yoga and the like fill out the group-oriented fare.

*This place is dirty and they NEVER sanitize the machines. *there is no spray to whipe them down after you are done working out. *the treadmills always say "maintenance". *they haven't had any racquetballs for over a month. *there is never a personal trainer to help me. *i pay extra to take boxing and was told (by AL RUIZ) i would be provided gloves; this is not true. *manager AL RUIZ 'shushed' me and called me a 'whitey' when i inquired about cancelling my contract *they will not let me cancel even though the place is unsanitary and the manager was extremely rude to me *AL RUIZ lied to me about the contract and i'm looking into hiring an attorney based on misrepresentation and fraud
Pros: THUMBS DOWN
Cons: read my description please
