Carmelo - hands down!. I went there and got my haircut with Carmelo. He's seriously amazing. If you need someone to understand hair and color you will find he has the perfect combination. Great salon and atmosphere. I highly recommend it!!!

Great professional staff and comfortable atmosphere. Hey, I've walked by ZEA Salon many times, but never tried it until recently when I followed my stylist, Carmello, from the VP Salon on Broadway. Firstly, the place is very nice on the inside. Beautiful interior design with nice reception desk. I always get a warm welcome on arrival. Salon has a nice waiting area in the event you need to wait a few minutes with lots of reading material to keep you occupied. They'll offer you something to drink when you arrive - even a glass of wine if its the right time of day! The place is a buzz with activity, yet you still feel like you're getting personalized service. Relaxer chairs let you stretch your legs out while getting a shampoo. Carmello is my stylist. He is a sweet man who always does a great job. I've never been disappointed. At check out, they offer to book your next appointment. I was even called at home by one of the owners to make sure everything went well following my first visit to the salon. Something you don't see much any more. Even though it's a few blocks further from my place than VP Salon, I really appreciate the great professional service from Carmello and the rest of the staff, and enjoy the comfortable atmosphere. Anyway, I encourage everyone to give it a try. And if you need a new stylist, ask for Carmello. He'll do a great job.

Great Salon!. After moving to Chicago a year ago I went to multiple salons before stumbling across Zea, and I am so glad I finally did. The service here is fantastic, and Dara is one of the best stylist/colorist/conversationalists in the city! Its hard to find a salon where getting your hair done isn't just another errand to finish, but a couple hours of pampering. Staff is fun, yet knowledgeable and professional. Store carries a great selection of Bumble and Bumble products as well (a nice change from the Aveda lines EVERY other salon carries). Only con is that they charge to shampoo you (is this because no one knows to tip your shampoo girl/boy?) Either way, Zea has made a very loyal patron out of this girl!

AVOID JENNIFER!!!. Five words: Stay away from this place! I had a nightmare-like experience this past weekend... I went to Jennifer for a cut and color and wanted a nice red (I have gotten my hair red numerous times and it looks awesome). She took the color off and I looked like Elmo. Then she put 'light' brown on it and left me to process way too long. When she took that off my hair was jet black! I was ready to cry!! So she puts something else on to take the color out and then comes running over to me when I was under the dryer and tells me she put the wrong stuff on. Now she has to strip it with bleach. My scalp was burning like crazy... Finally she is done stripping it and then she puts brown on it to level the color out. Now my hair is DARK, DARK, DARK! Not at all what I wanted. The kicker is when I was ready to leave she tried charging me for the color that she royaly screwed up. I told her where to stick it and said I will pay for the cut, but not the color. The nerve! I should have walked out of there with a free mani/pedi coupon for my troubles!! Stay far away... FAR, FAR AWAY!!... and if you see Jennifer run the other way!!!!!

Amazing experience!. For my first foray into the Chicago salon experience, I went to Zea after a friend recommended it. I went in for a cut and highlight with Ricky, and came out feeling phenomenal! He was extremely professional yet entertaining, and truly is a master with highlights. They are very natural-looking, and have lasted me (without roots) for six weeks.

hair heaven. i am a hair snob. i used to fly back to philly just to get my hair done after i moved away. but my haircut at zea was by far the best haircut/color ive ever had in my life. i literally get stopped in the streets by people asking where i got my hair done. i had David, and i will never have anyone else ever touch my hair. he's fabulous, super nice, and did a perfect job. if sitting in a chair having someone make you beautiful while drinking wine and reading vogue appeals to you, then you've found the right place.

Best Haircut EVER. i recently visited Chicago and stopped in at Zea since it is located around the corner from where I was staying. they took me immediately and I was put in the most competant hands. everyone there was so incredibly friendly, professional, and the service was phoenomenal. I have the best haircut/color that i have ever had and if i lived here, i would be a regular customer with no doubt. Go! You won't regret this-

Look No Further. I have been in Chicago all my life and have, in my 30+ years of living with frizzy, unmanagable hair, been looking for that perfect stylist that can do it all. I have had my hair cut, colored, chemically straightened and now, added EXTENSIONS and it has all been done by Dara. Dara can do it all! She will create the look YOU want, not what she wants you to do. I had followed Dara to Zea from her previous salon and I would be lost without her. Zea is by far my favorite salon. The day I got my extensions, all the stylist kept visiting our station. They were watching and talking and it was like being with my friends. They made the day fun and relaxing. I recommend to anyone going to Zea and HIGHLY recommend Dara. She is the best.
