The Scene – Gleaming red tiles behind the bar and two rows of candles along a front wall of bamboo create a sexy crimson tint in this bi-level West Loop nightclub. Attentive hosts lead 20- to 30-something guests to reserved tables surrounded by leather couches, stools and chairs, and upstairs where there is additional intimate seating and space for dancing. VIPs order bottles of champagne to fill the silver buckets and crystal glasses; other patrons sip cocktails while standing at the marble bar. Girls pose in tight jeans and slinky tops, while guys stick to collared shirts. –…

What a joke

by clubkid85 at Citysearch

This place just re-opened to little if any fanfare and for good reason. No improvements have been made to the "new" reserve in fact the "daybeds" upstairs still bare the mark of cigarette burns from days gone by (classy!). The management (if you want to call it that) were rude to my friends and I (who shelled out a nice sum of our meager post-grad earnings) and were less than helpful in directing us to where our party was. We had fun regardless (we roll like that but needless to say we'll be taking our party elsewhere.) On a positive not, the dancer's were hot and security polite but otherwise I give it one star out of four- thumbs down. In sum, if you want to be treated like a second class citizen wait in line for too long pay too much for drinks and get disrespected RESERVE is the PLACE FOR YOU!!!!

Respectfully,

Is this place still open?

by vegitoboi at Citysearch

Don't get me wrong, but I read an article in the Tribune that this and Crescendo are closed because the owners of these clubs have some "financial issues" that they are facing? I'll be shocked to find it still in business. But anyway, I remember coming here in 2006 in January to celebrate my cousin's birthday. Although there was some confusion at the door when we were supposed to get in for free and them having 2-3 guest lists for I don't know how many events that were being held, we did get in without any hassle (thanks to actually printing the e-mail that we were supposed to get in for free). The inside is definitely awesome with the bamboo and the red painted walls. Upstairs was a VIP area, but we didn't get to go up. But what I have beef is with the price of the drinks. They ARE pricy, and there isn't that much room to dance either. But overall, the place isn't bad at all, even better than Narcisse in regards to ambiance if I may say so (you can read my review on that too). But would I stay the whole night? I don't think I would, especially if you're not VIP (and you do need mucho dinero to climb those step to the upstairs lounge (probably 1/2 of that profit goes to the owners' "financial problems"). Would I go again, sure, just not for the entire night.

Do Not Waste Your Time or $!!!!

by sheabutterbeauty at Citysearch

My two girlfriends and I where in Chicago this past weekend and had a ball!!! Unfortunately we wasted a few hours of our time at The Reserve. We were on the guest list and that got us in the actual door but we did not realize that there is an upstairs that is guarded by a stern stocky boy with lots of gel in his hair. He told us that we had to wait until the upstairs was open as if they were cleaning it or something. We had no problem with that so we went to look for a seat. Low and behold we quickly realized that every table /booth in the spot costs $500-$1700 to sit at. Yeah. . .really!!! These are regular IKEA specials; nothing fancy. . .and it didn't even look like that cost included mixers!!! Any who, we kept noticing that the gel boy kept peeping around the corner at us and then sneaking peeps up the stairs. Retarded!!! Still we tried to make the most of it and enjoy the Top 40 tunes. This place was really lame!!! There was way more staff than people and the staff was quite rude. Finally around midnight we were allowed up the infamous stairs!!!! WOW!!! Lame as hell!!!! The ambiance is pretty nice but they have hand picked so many people that no one was having fun. The music was $hitty! They tried to be Hip Hop Night but it was more like the club scenes you see on the soaps. The speakers were horrible!!! They must not have remembered to include the cost in their business plan!!! Also, the bouncers stood around being very menacing and rude. One even took my friends brand new martini that she had sat on the ledge for maybe 30 seconds to find her smokes and he wouldn't give it back when she stopped him. We left after that and vowed to let the world know not to waste their fabulous Chicago experience on The Whack A$$ Reserve!!!!
