“This location is a good one to go to when you are a part of a group or large party, or in the Downtown area having a night on the town or a nice lunch.”
“okay now one more thing, the chocolate cake shake, which is not on the menu but they take a piece of chocolate frosted cake and blend it into a milkshake and you eat it with a spoon, and if you love chocolate, shakes, cake, or sweets in general, it is soo”
“The beefs with hot peppers, the salty fries, and a big ole cold drink is my favorite!”
“discovered the yummy dogs on my second visit to Chicago and have been addicted ever since!”
“The burgers are good as is the rest of the menu.”
“good place to take your kids--you don't have to worry about their being too noisy and the hot dogs are great.”
“The service was fast and friendly and the atmosphere was family friendly.”
“It might seem like a dream world, but Portillo's offers delicious food for low prices, in large portions.”
“Service is slow & not friendly, expensive for what you get”

My favorite dog spot in the city; Chicago dog all the way is the only way for me!
DON'T go through the drive thru unless it's early and not a Saturday night. Italian beef is great but the Chicago dog's a classic and the chopped salad with chicken surprisingly good (dressing on the side).

A quintessential Chicago classic. Don't be scared off by the tourists- join 'em, and make sure they (and you!) try the chocolate cake shake!
The best fast food in the country. Best Italian beef in Illinois. I have only been to Portillo's a few times, but my father and my friend were both born and raised in the Chicago area so I am writing this on behalf of them too. Everytime I have been to Portillo's it is fast, hot and fresh, and delicious. My favorite item on the menu is the Combo with Italian beef and Italian sausage. The seasoning in their beef and sausage makes Portillo's the best.
Better Than Wiener's Circle. Portilos has grown enormously over the years to what is now essentially a local fast food haven. However, the quality of their hot dogs has not been affected in the least by this growth which is amazing. Each standard dog is cooked to perfection, a slight pop when you bite it, tucked inside a soft doughy bun, lathered with mustard, sport pepper, onions, tomato slices and pickle spear. All the condiments are fresh and are the secret to Portillo's success. There are other items on the menu but most everybody comes to satisfy their hot dog fix. Long live Portillos!
Portillo's They are everywhere.. I will have to say Portillo's has good food all the way around. the hot dogs are great traditional Chicago dogs and you are not getting ripped off when you buy them. The fries, burgers, and ribs are all very good. The beef has great taste but they are very cheap on the amount of beef you get. I get a combo so I know I will at least get some meat.
portillos. HAVE YOU PEOPLE NEVER BEEN TO GENE AND JUDES NOW THATS A CHICAGO PLACE TO GO! SHEESH, ALL THIS NONSENSE ABOUT PORTILLOS BUT YOU HAVENT TASTED ANYTHING UNTIL YOU GO TO GENE AND JUDES! BUT NONE THE LESS PORTILLOS IS ALRIGHT
CONSISTENTLY AWESOME. This is one of those "can't miss" places. I have been travelling to Chicago for over 20 years and I have NEVER gotten anything less than GREAT food here. Everything is always fresh and hot, and the flavor is on the money! I always encourage people to eat here and they always thank me later. This place (and the other locations) is truly a Chicago icon. The very best!
Awesome burgers & amazing chocolate cake!. Love this place as they have great burgers, dogs, salads and pastas. Don't forget to get a slice of chocolate cake-very heavenly. Never disappoints!!
Wow!. I've only had this once when I was helping my brother move to Chicago (I'm from Southern California). In that single visit, I was blown away. Such a wide variety of better-than-fast-foods. The only thing comparable where I come from is a place called Fudruckers. Both have quite strange names.
Best Beef and Fries Ever!!. Hey, I was sad to read that not everyone was raving about the beefs and fries at Portillos. As a kid my parents opened The Ribbery Restaurant which was right next door to the Original Portillos in Villa Park. Even as a child I loved the food at my parents restaurant but more often then not I'd ask my parents for money so I could go next door to get either a beef or a hot dog and fries next door at Portillos. Now I live in Phoenix, I still come home every year and you better believe I head out to Portillos for many of my meals! My friends or family automatically stop there as soon as we are leaving the airport. My mouth is watering just talking about it. The great thing is you can order it and have it shipped to you pretty much anywhere in the U.S. My cousin here in Phx is actually having a "Chicago Party" this weekend and is having Portillos shipped out for the party. Point is... if you want great food and a cool place to go and chill with your friends or family then you cant go wrong with anything off the menu here. My personal favorite is Beef with extra au jus, fries and a root beer If I feel like being especially fat I sometimes order a dog too. YUM YUM YUM nickiinaz@hotmail
Portillo's Rocks. These people who say the portions are small must eat like GIANTS> One can hardly finish the regualr size beef let alone the BIG beef. The fries are etheral: crisp on the outside and airy and light on the inside. I have only had a negative experience and they were quick to rectify it then and there. Cheeseburgers are good too. Hot dogs are the same as everywhere else (Vienna beef, you can't go wrong) Even my Manhattan friends love the Chi-dogs. Expensive? Those who feel Portillo's is expensive must live in the sticks.
The best sandwich anywhere!!!!!!. I looooooooove Portillos Italian Beef sadwiches. They are the absoulute best that I have ever, ever, ever tasted. Oh, and the Beef and Cheddar is awesome, too! You've got to tryit. I usually buy 10 sandwiches when I visit Portillo's. I need enough to last at least three days, (and by that, I mean enough to eat at least two a day), and have to buy enough for my family members. They have to build a Portillo's in Missouri. They know nothing about really good food. I guess i'll just have to move back to Chicago to get my Portillo's fix.
