USDA prime beef, elegant tableside service and mammoth martinis..
In Short
With its dark wood details, celebrity photos and tuxedo-clad waiters, this upscale steakhouse chain has the air of a posh men's club. Service is professional and discreet, with bartenders making a mean martini. Dinners begin with a waiter-driven cart laden with fresh vegetables, live lobster and cuts of steak; customers choose from porterhouse, rib-eye, bone-in prime rib and more. Side dishes are traditional and enormous, from baked potatoes and creamed spinach to steamed broccoli with hollandaise.
morton's. Child running through the BAR! why did they keep serving him soda? why were they serving a child at all in the bar? why did I pay so much for a steak I had to share with a child who reenacted football plays throughout my entire meal? why is it that the RECOMMENDED Morton's location was so bad? maybe it was the guy who lost his wife in his arms who was also reenacting to the woman who was admittedly three days in on a drunken binge (whom the bartender still served). The one thing I do know... why i wont go back to Morton's ever again.
Best Steak I Ever Had in my Life!. I'm usually not a big fan of steak, but since I'm in Chicago for work, we decided to give Morton's a try (the advertisements in the plane magazines worked). The ambience was awesome.. you had to follow the stairs down to get to the restaurant, which gave it a very italian-mobster kind of feel, lol! I had a steak Diane and it was sooo mouth-watering! It was juicy and tender at the same time.. I have no idea what they do to their meat, but it was definitely worth the money. Will definitely return!
One of the best dinners I've had in Chicago.
I am very picky when it comes to steak and I have to say this was the BEST steak I had in the 10+ years I've lived in the Chicago area.
I had the filet. The chopped salad with mustard vinnagrette was outstanding, the mashed potatoes were wonderful and the asparagus with hollandaise sauce...very good. Everything I ate was wonderful, zero complaints!
I even bought the Mortan's book for sale after the fact.
Very Very Highly Recommended!!
Exceptional Service and Great Steaks. I'm embarrassed to say but I usually get the swordfish. Last night they were out so I ordered the Porterhouse. It was most excellent. The Chopped Salad is also way above par. Hard to find but well worth it.
Delicious Steak and Dessert.... I had an internship that provided us with the best lunches, outings and dinner. We went here and I loved it! I ordered the Petite Filet for lunch, delicioussssssss!! The Chocolate Godiva cake dessert is so good its addicting. Try it!!!
Disappointed, really needs better supervision. We love Morton's and go there whenever we have a special occasion. This time, however, service was terrible, extremely slow (the table next to us arrived 30 min later and still got their food before us). Our stakes were not how we ordered (we ordered medium, they were well done, completely dry). We also ordered the mushrooms, which were all greasy and tasteless. Waiter was not attentive, did not greet us or say thanks or anything. Seriously, needs to get better or will succumb to plenty of good alternatives in the city!
The best steak. My fiancee and I are avid steak eaters and have gone to most of the reknown steak restaurants in Chicago. Morton's steak was by far the best. As a matter of fact, the only problem I had with it was the butter for the bread was not soft. The bread was wonderful, we were asked what kind of vodka for our martinis. The steaks came out perfectly made to order. It was absolutely delectable. Every single item I put in my mouth was heavenly. The chocolate cake was tremendous. I don't like cake, and this cake was absolutely wonderful. HIGHLY SUGGEST IF YOU LIKE GOOD FOOD AND GOOD STEAK TO GO TO MORTON'S!!!
Nothing to write home about. With nice ambience, decent food, and good wine, Morton's would be a top steakhouse in most towns. As far as being the one of the best in Chicago, I hope not. The medium-rare ribeyes were chewy, overcooked, and not very flavorful. It fell somewhere between a Ruth-Chris and Outback, very disappointing, for a pricey steakhouse with a national reputation.
Best steak in chicago. People who know chicago consider this to be the best steak house in town. It was around before the other well reviewed steak houses in chicago. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. I guess best way to sum up would be to say this. This is a old school Chicago steak restaurant. I like old school.
