Editorial Review for Ruth's Chris Steak House – by Tara de Lis
In Short
This offshoot of a popular New Orleans hangout for politicians features decor of dark woods and comfortable booths, with a separate bar scene. Choice cuts of custom-aged beef arrive in sizzling butter on 500-degree plates. The menu also offers chicken, pork and seafood entrees along with Creole appetizers like shrimp remoulade. Family-style sides include gargantuan onion rings, creamed spinach and various styles of potatoes. Traditional homemade desserts like cheesecake and bread pudding conclude the meal.

I am not a steak person. I don't eat it at home. I don't generally want it or like it. But wow, I will eat steak at a place like this. My experience at this Ruth's Chris was luxurious, indulgent, and worth every penny. I had the ribeye and it was fantastic. The sweet potato side dish was scrumptious, and the key lime pie dessert huge and creamy. I'd definitely go back!
Pros: Delicious food, attentive and helpful waiter
Cons: Expensive

I took my husband to Ruth's Chris in Chicago for his birthday with a group of 6. Most of us had never been there before. We had 9:00 reservations but they were able to get us in at 7:30 which worked out better for us since we had more activities planned for the evening. The food was wonderful. The whole group of us ordered steaks and chicken and every meal turned out just perfect. Our waiter Andy was top notch. All his suggestions proved to be the very best. We all couldn't rave more about the service and food. Andy was even able to accomodate our evening plans by getting us to the head of the line at the dualing piano bar Howl at the Moon that is right next door! We will definitly be going back the next time we go to Chicago. This is a must try resturant. You won't be disappointed.
