Rock Bottom Brewery. Wow, I went here a couple times. each time after work with some friends. The good thing I must admit is the service. The staff was nice and very cordial.

Everything else was atrocious. we went to "the roof" and there must have been a thousand people up there. we could barely stand in one spot without being in someone’s way. The drinks were way over priced & served in plastic 6 oz cups.

I ordered margaritas and they were more like kool aid with a shot of rum. The food was even worse. I would have complained but there were so many people in the place, finding a manager or someone who looked like they were in charge would have been a task that I was not prepared for. I don’t even know how the fire dept allows such a thing. I spent 65 dollars in less than 30 minutes and really , I felt jipped.

Personally, I don’t see what makes this place so great. I guess Chicagoans must not get out that often or have that many cool places to go because this is one dirty crowded hole in the wall that gets an F in my book. I will not return and not recommend this place to anyone.

Great Service!. This restaurant was a last minute selection. We had called the week before for reservations at Volare for our friends 30th birthday celebration. Before we left for Volare, we called to make sure our reservations were set, and we were told by a very snobby man that the "restaurant was backed up with orders" and that the earliest he could get us in was 9pm. Our group was really upset, because our birthday girl is an italian food connoisseur! Luckily, she is also very laid-back and we started walking around by our hotel and soon came across Rock Bottom and decided to try out luck in there. We were warmly greeted by a hyper-active host (who amusingly did the river dance later) and ended up waiting about 30 minutes, which as you all know....on a Saturday night downtown is pretty darn good!

After we were seated, our server came up within a few minutes and introduced herself and started taking our drink/appetizer orders. We had that all within 5 minutes and we were pleasantly surprised! We had the homemade guacamole with homemade chips/tortillas! It was delicious, the portion was a bit small but it was still worth it!

Our drinks were pretty good, a few of them seemed a little watered down, but most of them were pretty strong and did the job of raising our "spirits"!!!

Our food order was taken not long after our appetizer came out and we had it within 15 minutes! Pretty good burgers, fries were not as great, but still ok!

The only real con is that it is extremely loud, so if you are looking for a romantic spot, this is not the place for you. If ur looking for somewhere to unwind and have some fun....definitely try this place!

Cool atmosphere, love the roof-top deck. This is a great place to go for after work drinks. On a nice day, Head up to the roof and have a drink at the rooftop bar. They have a solid and diverse offering of self-brewed beers. The menu is also solid. I love the wings, but avoid the salmon fish & chips. The downside is that it's pricey, but what can you expect from a chain brewery located in downtown chicago. If you want cheap drinks, head down the street to one of the many hole-in-the-wall bars.

Over Priced!!!. Having lived in NYC for years I'm no stranger to over priced drinks but this place is ridiculous! It's a local happy hour restaurant with bar food yet the mixed drinks are priced as if you are at a 5 star celeb hangout. Give me a break. I will never go back!!!

Just the right place. what a great time we had! we stumbled on the bar after dinner on a saturday evening, so we had a few drinks and had a great time. the next day we were planning on going to espn zone to watch the jets game and they weren't playing the game! so we went right back to rock bottom to watch football... wings were delish!

A casual brew pub with great beer, a collegiate atmosphere, and an alluring rooftop deck.. In Short
This spacious restaurant's college feel is magnified by pool tables, young, denim-clad servers, and beer posters you might see in a dorm room. The menu offers plenty of good brewpub fare: Ribs and chicken are smoky and tangy, with a serious kick. Fragrant with beer, brown ale chicken has mushrooms and strips of chicken layered over white cheddar mashed potatoes. Beers are all brewed on-site, and range from Chicago Gold to Terminal Stout.

Excellent. This was the best restuarant we ate at during our visit to chicago. The portions were huge, food was outstanding and the price was the best part about it. Services wasnt the best in the world but overall this was a great dining experience.

Save room for Dessert!. Fos starters, you can't go wrong with the seared ahi appetizer. The tuna just melts in your mouth! Then I skip the entree and plunge straight into dessert. The derby pie is to die for. A must try for chocolate lovers!

Strong beer. I would warn you to not drink too many of one of their beers, but I can't remember which one! Start with the beer sampler and you are sure to find one to suit you. Service was great and the atmosphere is youthful but mixed. The pool tables are pretty nice for a bar, full-size too. Munchies were great...but considering how many beers I drank, the napkins would have tasted great. I had such a good time here, I had to try the one in Long Beach, CA...I think I will stick to the Chicago location.
