“The music was alright(it was good because it was played loud so that's always fun and they have TVs around playing music videos which is also neat), the place itself is alright, very Europeanish feel and the bartender was nice.”
“The bar scene there is very nice though the drinks are quite expensive, it's alright.”
“The food is delicious too!”
“really like the variety of music on the several different levels and dancefloors.”
“Not the best place if you live in Chicago-- too many other good clubs to enjoy.”

Large and In Charge. The place is huge! Multi floor! Couches on first floor are very comfy.
Good location. A staple of Chicago. The decor is cool. Multi level aspect is unique. I like to go here every once in a while to get back into neutral.
Interesting.
It's a very beautiful place. The exterior of the building is super cool, the interior is cozy with its large lounge area. I used to club a lot in Europe so I have a bit of experience in the field:)...Excalibur, even if it's got what it takes, is not IT. The bar scene there is very nice though the drinks are quite expensive, it's alright. Later on HOLD ON the chair because the crowd comes in. that's what made my experience really bad there. The people are extremely ugly and trashy and they are all tourists. I was there with a guy friend and even though he wasn't my boyfriend, it didn't matter for many...people coming at you left and right...from the second you enter the door after a cigarette break they act like vultures! It doesn't resonate to them that no means no. It took me 2 hours to get some Israeli guy off of me even though I told him he can get lost and he's not getting any so he's pretty much wasting his time. My pushing him off didn't seem to faze him. When I started dancing(alone) I couldn't. Men come at you left and right. It's fun if you're there to get drunk and have a one night stand but if you're not into that and you don't feel like a stranger jumping at you and kissing you, don't go there! At least grab a semi decent guy to pretend he's the boyfriend. Mine failed on that lol.
After I left the club I went to grab my car but stopped to get something to eat a block away from Excalibur. Turns out one Greek guy followed me there from the club and tries to hit on me in the freaking omelet place.
This club Excalibur is so trashy and people are so desperate to get some meat it's ridiculous. If you dance and have a good time with someone men think you want to have secs with them. Ladies be careful, don't get too drunk unless you're out for getting a disease. The music was alright(it was good because it was played loud so that's always fun and they have TVs around playing music videos which is also neat), the place itself is alright, very Europeanish feel and the bartender was nice. The crowd and nasty people that hang around there ruined what was supposed to be a great night for me. Perhaps it would have been ok if I would have been after one night stands with whomever but i wasn't and possibly someone will have a good experience if they go there accompanied by a partner. Going solo or with a friend is a BAD idea.
I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I had a much more fun night and much better music and crowd at Hunt Club on Rush street. The entrance is free, the dance floor is smaller but the music is good, the place is dark and the crowd is great. If you're a single gal, you'll find much more attractive decent but fun guys there instead.
Disappointed !!.
First of all, separate $10 cover to get to the second floor club (Vision...something). Seriously, if you are in the same building..why would you want to pay twice. Anyways the 1st floor was bad music..so before deciding to leave the place, we thought of checking out the second floor where they were playing Trance. Music was good, but lighting was poor. Poor crowd, there was no dress code, some girls looked as if they stopped by after the gym..with track pants. Disappointing crowd..
Chicago can do better
Yuck.
Yuck! Excalibur is a good club to go check out if you're an overweight frat boy from Napperville and you just got paid at your job parking cars and your mom let you borrow her van for the weekend so you go here to try and pick up some ugly secertary from Joliet.
Now that I got that out of my system - Excalibur is everything that is wrong with Chicago night clubs. Their cookie cutter approach to running a club is so cliche and typical that they are almost like a parody of themselves.
Its over priced, its boring, its crowded and its very pretentious. Avoid this club.
horrible service and rip off on bottle service. i was just at this place on nov 7th and i had been working with a party planner named kathern for a month planning on RSVPing a bottle service party for a huge birthday bash i was throwing for all november birthdays and as a surpise birthday party for my boyfriend. we had agreed on 2 bottles of $250 which i was told would eliminate the admition cost for our party and that we would have our own ropped off area. i had emails on this agreement and the night of our party we arrive on ( we were using ANYTIME limo). we get there and katherin meets us outside and tells me that we have to pay cover for our VIP party and that we also have to pay 300 for bottles later also telling me that it was acually 400 per bottle bc it was the first friday of the month! NUTS! refusal to all this we request to speak with a manager who doesnt show up for over an hour and our ropped off section was being shared with the public. after arguing for hours we finally recieve our bottle service at 250 priced and didnt recieve our bottles til 12:30/ 1:00 A.M! and we had been there since 10:30. i mean horrible service. not a professional staff of managers and and the party of 35 that came with were being thrown back n forth to whether we were even going to stay. i mean is this how you want to enjoy your night?
Decent night club, terrible for events/parties. I've gone to this place twice. It's ok for typical night life in chicago, has generous space and room to move around which is definently a plus. Some times they have promotions as well for free entry which cuts out about $10-20. My main gripe with this place is the event coordinator (Kathryn) and management staff. Terrible. We had a group of 40 people celebrating 5 birthdays, and decided on this place a month in advance. Originally the event coordinator told us we would have free entry and our own private section, so long as we purchased two liquor bottles for $200 each for the whole group. Two days before the party, she contacts us and tells us now that the price of the bottles is $300 each and that we have to purchase three since it is the first friday of the month. We settled on two bottles for $300 each. On ARRIVAL to excalibur, she tells us sorry but they have to charge us $400 for each bottle and charge everyone admission (an extra $300). Nevermind we had a deal set up with the limo service and them already contracting in $25 each for limo service, free entry, and the already jacked up price of $600 for two bottles. To top it off, our "private section" was already filled with local patrons. It was too late to cancel, and we were finally able to talk to the less than helpful management to give us our original prices and deals. I say less than helpful because he snatched the original price list showing $250 for bottle service out of my girl friend's hands and said we shouldn't have that. The rest of the night went fine, but it took them another TWO hours to get our two bottles that cost us hundreds of dollars. This upset my girlfriend the most (who planned it all) which of course upset me. Had we known they would pull this we probably would of gone somewhere else for less frustration, better service, prices, etc. I don't think it helped either a patron tried molesting her on the dance floor.
My god how does this thing survive?. I live down the street from this place. My friends warned me of this place being a tourist trap. Well, I was tempted so I went. Ugh. The place is expensive, there were some decent looking girls... The crowd was too old for me (35+). The place is large and has variety so thats a plus. Unfortunately, I did not find something that fit. The music transitions were choppy. Well, I hope this place can re-invent itself and fulfill its pseudo-hype.
Mixed Feelings. I really like the variety of music on the several different levels and dancefloors. The main floor had some contests that were more trashy than anything else. Cover and drink prices were decent. I like the lockers idea for coats! Not very many attractive people if that's what you're looking for. Overall I had fun, but don't know if I'd go back.
Great atmosphere!. This place is so fun! I went there for my 21st birthday and I had a blast. It's a little pricey but then again, anywhere you go downtown is going to cost you. The shot girls are such sweethearts and the DJ's have that place pumping. I like the music selection the most, they play everything, not just one certain sound. There's also additional floors and a game room in the basement. The food is delicious too! Get there pretty early around 8:30 or 9 am or you wont get a table. If you are going with a group of 5 or more I would make reservations....They're also open until 5 am on saturdays!!!
