Editorial Review for Redfish Restaurant – by Citysearch Editors

In Short
A jumble of old gas station and cola signs line the wood-paneled walls in this busy two-room River North joint. Music blares and local workers grab beers and a bite after work, or hang in the relaxed VooDoo Lounge. The menu highlights seafood and spice, from plump, crispy crab cakes and flaky signature blackened redfish to meaty jambalaya and "Looziana egg rolls" stuffed with blackened chicken, black beans, smoked corn and Asiago cheese.

Save Money

Daily (2pm-7pm and 10pm-close) in the VooDoo lounge, munch on crab-stuffed shrimp, Caesar salad, tacos and other appetizers for just a couple bucks each.

When to Go

Friday-Saturday starting at 9:30pm, Redfish features live jazz or blues bands--no cover, no drink minimum.

Know Before You Go

If you're bothered by smoke, steer clear of the bar, which gets crowded with cigarette and cigar smokers.

I've been to Redfish three times. I love the food - the fish is excellent. However, two of the times that I was there, I was with people who have food allergies. Both times, the wait staff ignored their pleas for certain types of foods (dairy for one, pepper for the other) to be left off of the foods.

Redfish is OK. And that would be fine if you were paying 8 bucks a plate. Unfortunately the prices are much MUCH higher. This is not authentic food. If you want it done right, go to Heaven on 7. That place is fantastic. The other reviewer had it dead on too.

Cons: Price of Food
